Zokora 8???

He was fucking useless. He really was. He's not a central midfield player. No tracking back, passing astray. Were people at the same game? Incredible. I'd been singing his praises recently too, but that was an all too familiar Zokora midfield performance.
I wouldnt say useless as he did save our bacon on a couple of occasions, but saying that it was in the "defence". Although I like his effort I will have to agree that his best position is in the defence. He is better than both Kaboul and Dawson there IMO
Him and Huddlestone don't and never will work as a pairing.
Huddlestone playing with no one in our squad make a good pairing in midfield. Still over rated as a midfielder for reasons already given in previous post

Thought Bent got maligned for a load of good stuff he did. Won lots of headers - great little lofted header that got tipped onto the bar, and unlucky right at the end with the bar denying him for the second time.

I don't know what the guy has to do before some people come round to him, I thought he did well last night. [That's more aimed at some supporters than others on here]
Agree 100%
We didn't get out of second gear all night. The curse of the early goal. In our last two home games (the Scum 5-1 and last night) we've shown the complete polar opposites of how an early goal (for us) affects the team. One game we go on to annihilate the opposition, another we sit back and switch off.

We had one eye on Wembley, and that was obvious for all.
Again I agree
Credit to Tainio for getting stuck in
Taino good effort , poor application
Kaboul was getting confused about when to play and when to hoof - neither being very effective. Robbo was awesome - and the fans were awesome to him - one of the loudest England's Number One renditions for ages.
Other than that one handed save, thought was just average but did enough. Still dithered too much IMO
The rest were 'meh' at best.

Gilberto has not played for us or in the EPL for that matter. Do you believe it is wise to play him? I would play Lee. Dont know why Ramos (or others) do not rate him but up until very recently it was between him and Malbrangue who were our most consistent players. Not flash but reasonably Steady.

The other point is in my opinion Hudd is a very, very average midfielder. Didint you see how wanting he was last night? Very slow and immobile. Take away his passing and shooting, which were absent yesterday BTW, and you have nothing. Play him and Chelsea will have him for breakfast.

Because he is not very good

Robbo 8 - Two great saves and good enough for a final place for me

Tainio 6 - Think he struggled at times. Can't fault the effort though

Woodgate 7 - Solid

Kaboul 7 - No major cock-ups that I recall and a few good clearances/interceptions

Chimbonda 5 - A bit too adventurous for my liking. Where was he when they scored?

Lennon 5 - Quiet game. End-product was patchy and wasn't wide enough

Huddlestone 6 - OK. Used his strength well but not enough penetrating passes

Zokora 5 - Just seemed anonymous for lage chunks of the game.

O'Hara 7 - Worked his socks off and put some good tackles in but shame about the goal conceded

Berbatov 6 - Quiet night.

Bent 7 - Deserved a goal and had pretty limited service for the most part.

Subs

Keane - 6 - Did fine but nothing special

Jenas - 6 - OK but little impact. His fresh legs should have done more

Malbranque - 6 - Some good work on the by-line but limited time

Robinson-6 good save from the freekick. Still dont come out and catch the ball. His kicking we have missed.

TAINO-6-worked hard, but not a RB

KABOUL-7 did well.

Woodgate-7 played quite well.

chimbonda-6 did ok, got caught out of postion for there goal.

lennon-5 did nothing all game, gave it away alot.

zokora-7 thought he had a good game, defended well and got forward well.

Hudd-6.5 played ok. some good balls.

o'hara-6 worked hard, put in alot, never gave up, can tell he loves the club. Had alot of the ball, good shot, some good crosses. not so good defending, lost his man let him get goal side.

berbatov-5 didnt do much.

bent-6.5 did ok last night. won some good headers, done ok. still not the best tho.

was horrible game last night, was just the same kind of game as it was at there place. a game of two different halfs. Slavia prague are a good side. They are very good attacking, look very dangerous. But All that matters is we won. bring on sunday!

Three times balls went into his six yard box without him coming and getting them. One ended up in a goal. If your stupid enough to think that making one meaningful save excuses his other deficiences then be my guest but it looks like Ramos thinks the same Bollocks as me doesn't it ?

Magic Juande said:
He did a great job, he did everything he had to do. We want him to produce the best performance possible and give the best of himself. He was out for a while but his performance was magnificent.

Best add double-UEFA Cup-winner Juande to your list of stupid people (oh, and it should be if you're stupid enough... - shouldn't need a stupid person to point that out, though, you clever sausage).

Bus-Conductor, I love you. You are the only person on here who is harder(but true) on Kenae than me. It's like that story of the kings new clothes. Are we the only ones who see what a faker he can be?

I hate the 37 fakes in 69 fakes.

You may wish to replace fakes with "goals" and "games" as you see fit.

Robbo 8 - Played well tonight and made an amazing save from the Free Kick. Still looks a little edgy on crosses.
Tainio 4 - Very poor night although RB is not his postion so....
Woodgate 7 - Good in the air and on the ground
Kaboul 7 - Looks a real threat attacking from corners and was ok at the back
Chimbonda 6 - Not his best game but he done ok. Got up and down the wings well and imo, was fouled leading up to the Slavia goal.

Lennon 4 - Disappointing. Just glad he got this bad performance out his system and now hopefully will shine on Sunday.
Huddlestone 6 - Not bad. Made a few clinical long range passes again but looked a little slow in Midfield
Zokora 7 - Thought he played well and won the ball back a good few times
O'Hara 6 - High workrate and effort and his left foot looks real tasty but aside from a deflected goal, offered no penetration. Was caught ball watching for the Slavia goal.

Berbatov 6 - Hardly saw he ball
Bent 8 Played well and was very unlucky not to be on the score sheet. Looked a little tentative but then thats understable when your own support jeer you...(muppets)

Subs:
Keane - 6 - Offered nothing when coming on
Jenas - 6 - To late in the game to do anything apart from 1 surging run which brought us a free kick.
Malbranque - 5 - Good work rate as usual from Steed but got caught a few times on the left

Overall: Disappointing performance and just glad we got that out of our system. Our left looked seriously weak tonight with Chimbo and O'Hara. Slavia were constantly looking for balls in that area and most of there threat came from runs down that area.

That sounds too harsh imo.

Keane and Berbatov is the only top 4 part of that team. King and Woody could be a top 4 CBs combo as well but you all know their injuries record.

Surprised that Tainio was preferred to the option of Chimbonda at right back and Lee at LB.

In general, praise the Lord that we got out of that one and are still in the UEFA Cup.

The only important conclusion I'm prepared to draw from last night is B-C's above.

I am now a little worried that both Hutton and Gunter are not eligible for the UEFA Cup. To me the solution is pretty clear: play out best remaining RB, Chimbonda, at RB. And then work out who the best available LB is. At the moment, I would say that's Lee. Hopefully, it will soon be Gilberto, and the problem goes away.

However, Tainio is not and never will be a RB. It's unfair on him, and upsets the balance of the back four. Teemu should play in CM or not at all.

Good shout!, I can live with your choices :hump:. The only change I would probably make would be Cerny for Robbo, but they are much of a muchness so doesn't matter.

Christ almighty. How does anyone give Zokora more than a 5. The guy is a passenger in the midfield, someone with so much energy just strolls around, losing his man, LIABILITY.

He won the ball back plenty of times last night and was running through looking for quick one-two's. Thought he had a good game myself. Slavia overloaded the midfield and he done very well consideirng. If anyone was a passenger it was Hudd imho.

Zokoras positioning is nothing short of shocking.
I agree The Hudd had a bad game last night, but when he is paired with JJ in the middle, The Hudd is able to have much more influence on the game because his central midfield partner is DISCIPLINED.

I think last night highlighted that we really only have Berbatov and Woodgate, who are consistant class performers.

Robbo is back to his best. His best being routed to his line and installing complete panic in his defence.

Chimbonda appears ton have his head elsewhere, possibly up his own arse.

Tainio is the modern day Steffan Freund. steady but totally ineffective.

Kaboul is starting to look better and I believe hie will start to blossom next year, if he is given his chance.

Lennon should destroy teams, but rarely does.

Zokora. Not sure about him. at times I think yes, he's looking the opart, tehn other times he looks like a sunday player on Hackney Marshes

O'Hara. Like his commitment, but worry he'll go down the Johnnie Jackson, Darren Caskey and Dean Marney route to oblivion.

Bent . Fucking hell!!, what a complete waste of money. Why the fuck did we sell Defoe before this arse. Ramos needs to ditch at any cost.

A poor performance all round starting with Ramos and then spreading to the rest of the team.

Ramos: 5 - I said yesterday that the choice of DZ and Thudd in midfield was interesting and wondered whether they'd both play defensively or whether one would try and get forward more. My fear if they played defensively was we didn't have the width or natural wingers to make that system work. They did play DM and we didn't have the width. I also question playing Tainio at RB in preference to Chimbonda with Lee at LB, didn't work and unfortunately for the Finn i don't think we'll be seeing him again in a significant match for Spurs.

Ratings for the team plus likelihood of making the team on Sunday:

Robbo: 6 - made a couple of good saves, but did not command his box, was hesitant a couple of times on crosses and his bellowing is in stark contrast to the measured 'stay calm' style approach of Cerny. Played his part in a jittery back five. (Maybe)

Chimbonda: 4 - awful. was lazy, negative and dis-interested. i look forward to getting shot of him in the summer. He has the talent but not as much as he thinks he has. (Definite)

Kaboul: 5 - average. Is impetuous and sells himself cheaply on occasion, sometimes needs bailing out by his partner but never seems to be on hand to repay the favour. (No)

Woodgate: 6 - OK. His least effective performance that I've seen in a Spurs shirt. Did his best to bring calm and looked assured but was unable to stem the jitters. Didn't seem to offer the leadership last night. (Definite)

Tainio: 4.5 - Very poor. It's not his fault because he's not a RB, but dreadful performance. Gave the ball away, was skinned numerous times and missed too many tackles. (No)

Lennon: 5 - Poor. We needed a disciplined wide-man performance from him, especially with our CM, but with Capello looking on he seemed determined to come inside at every opportunity. Played for himself it seemed. Ramos will have had words I'm sure and hopefully pointed out that he damaged his chances of being involved in the next England squad by playing so selfishly. (Definite)

Thudd: 6 - Started well, spraying good passes around. Sometimes composure crossed the line into laziness though. Was exposed as lumbering a few times. Suffered from lack of forward thinking partner in midfield. (Maybe)

DZ: 6 - Played Ok, but no real drive, needed to dominate more and was one of the ones who looked to play conservatively from the start. Again could have done with JJ in front of him. (Probably)

O'Hara: 6 - Suffered due to Ramos' selections. Not the wide-man his formation seemed to require and it showed. A few good balls, but one-footed, one-paced and suffered one crucial lapse of concentration. (May come on as substitute).

Berbatov: 6 - Lazy, but I think rightly so. Played the right sort of game with the Final on Sunday clearly in his mind. (Nailed on certainty)

Bent: 6.5 - Best player on the pitch. Got involved more, some good knock-ons won a few balls when it was surely 60-40 against him doing so, played unselfishly, created spaces for his strike partners and was unlucky not to score (Will have a part to play off the bench).

Subs:

Keane: 6 - Did well (Definite)
JJ: 6.5 - Made a difference. Interesting to see a CM show Lennon how to play the wing role. (Definite)
Malbranque: 5.5 - Hurried and scurried but the teams over-all lack of determination contributed to making him look ineffectual. (Definite)
