Yeah, think we'll lose this one. Usual achingly sluggish start, cock up early goal, lose 2-1. Sorry to be such a misery.

Sadly you might be right. I'd hoped Jose would have our fired up for games if nothing else, but we're more lethargic now than we were under Poch. The 2 CB's are showing their age big time & Eriksen & Lucas might as well be watching with me.

In all honesty, I think we played better than against Norwich. The biggest problem is we have too many liabilities in this team. Vert is too slow and Aurier, as we all know, is totally useless. Sissoko basically has to cover ground at right-back due to that clown's inability to track back. I think Sissoko is very underrated. He is basically everywhere, in both attack and defence. Alli is only good at scoring goals out of nowhere, otherwise, he contributes very little. We need Kane to step up, like how he played against Brighton.

That might the worst half of football yet. Aimless and lethargic. No energy, little creativity, despite a midfield ostensibly full of constructive passers, attackers largely isolated and possession generally wasted.

There are predictable gaps in the defence, but that's not really a problem of today, it's down to injuries and personnel. Our midfield has been dire, really clueless. For much of the half, they've been outfought for the loose ball, but even when we do get a bit of possession, all anyone can think to do is to wait a few seconds, looking in vain for an unmarked player, and then hit a vague aerial ball that inevitably goes to the head of a Southampton defender.

Where's the passing and moving? The switching of play? The balls outside and then back in? The movement off the ball? Southampton are well organised and in good form, but no one is even trying anything ambitious - aimless lifted balls straight up the pitch appear to be the limits of our collective imagination.

Ings' goal was very good - we'd be impressed with Dele if he showed that skill - but our central defenders were too far apart and it's not as if there was much craft involved in creating the chance.

Where to start?

We’re mostly shit at long ball

Moura is infuriatingly disappointing

Ndombele is worrying- another injury

Why bother with the Dane?

Lo Celso needs lots of minutes- he could be amazing but clearly needs to adapt to the pace of the league

Sessegnon is doing ok

If we’re buying a centre back this window, it really needs to happen quick

I’ve got a feeling Dele is going to score

4 league games in a row we've gone in at half time behind. That's a disgrace in itself.

Jan is 32. Toby and Sissoko are 30. Rose is 29 and Wanyama is 28. All of them should have been gone with younger hungrier replacements brought in at least a year ago. Nothing however was done.

The one player we did move on at the right time (Dembele) was not replaced until this window.

Our transfer policy has been a joke. A team needs constantly refreshed as Poch said numerous times. I feel bad for Poch as it is quite obvious the bigger issue was the complacency and skill of this group of players, not the coaching. Mourinho has proven that.

how can we sell players if they don’t want to go or we don’t get a suitable offer?

They are fine. They just need to find the targets. They are all fucking inaccurate.
For those who disagree, look at the YouTube video Spurs official posted of the goals we scored in 2019 and the goals Kane score in 2019 and see for yourselves how some of the goals scored during Poch reign were the results of long balls too.

Stop thinking the long balls are synonymous of Mourinho coaching. It's totally not. He encouraged it after taking over us, yes I agree. It's not pretty at the moment, yes I agree. But please don't think Poch setup didn't include that. When we are losing the space while playing from the back (which was so inflexible and dumb no matter how we're pressed) , Lloris and the CBs would always pump the forward aimlessly.

Fucking tired constantly reading about players being shit. Under certain individual moments they can be shit, yes, like Gazzaniga and his karate kick, but overall 95% of the problems we're seeing are a managerial issue, not a player issue.

on what basis are you drawing that conclusion?

We are playing better than the Norwich first half, although not difficult. We've had some chances and a decent penalty shout. Fancy is 2nd half, 1-3

Liverpool next week, another game without a win & where we will be seriously exposed defensively, we need to fucking sign some players, how much clearer can it get before we realise

Its not formation or team selection, its just a total lack of effort. So slow its untrue. Look like they've never met each other.
How are our centerbacks standing 20M apart with a striker between them both so often? Are they fking blind? Do they not speak to each other? Do they not watch games back afterwards and think that was pathetic?
Fuck knows what we do at training all week. Sit indoors playing FIFA by the look of it.
And I see when we get a throw in half way inside opp half we're still throwing the ball 30yards back to our cb's. Wtf is that. Seriously bollocks.
Not getting fk all from this game playing like that.
Its not tiredness either, its desire.

Vertonghen was terrible for that goal, no urgency to track back and help out Alderweireld out.

Yet Levy gave Toby and Sissoko new deals and will probably give Jan one too.
