I believe he came on as sub in the Sheffield utd game. He's picking players on merit which is why gedson and sessegnon also got next to no game time.

Mate he is our record signing, coming on against Sheff Utd for a cameo is not really showing faith in him, or enough to get him match fit.
He wasn't the worse player against sheff utd imo, something else is the problem.

As i said players are picked on merit and mourinho likes players that track back irrespective of their price tag. He needs to work on that part of his game and once we sign a proper DM i am sure he will see more game time.

Yeah the one caveat to my post would be if the relationship between Tanguy and Mourinho has completely broken down and there's no chance of him getting a look-in next season. In that's the case, sad as it might be, we'd probably be better off just letting him go while he still has most of his value in order to help Mourinho push on.

I suspect Levy has some input into this, though, and would not be happy if Mourinho let his record signing rot on the bench after buying Jose the DM he wanted. You'd imagine this is something they've discussed.
agree 100%

More stories coming up about this possible swap with Inter for Skriniar. I'm really not sure what to make of these rumours.

One one hand:
-He's our most expensive every signing so think it would be unlikely the club would just give up on him after one season
-He's had a lot of injuries and new players usually need a season or so to adapt

On the other hand:
-He missed the last two games and no real mention of what is injury was which COULD mean that talks had started with Inter and Jose agreed to not play him for the rest of the season as clubs do often engage in transfers before the end of season completion
-He doesn't seem happy, he can't seem to stay fit or get fit and his entourage are pushing stories of him leaving left right and centre so Levy might just think you know what if we can get our money back its better to do it now rather than potentially we keep him for another season where he doesn't play and then his value will have really depreciated a lot by then
-Jose might well have weighed it up and thought look he doesn't fit with my plans, lets use him as a cash cow and that way I can re-invest into 3-4 other key signings who will make much more of a difference overall.

Some journalists like those at the Athletic seem to be running with the narrative that he's not for sale and Alistair Gold was a one point but I think even he recently said conversations with Inter are happening?...

Very hard to know what to believe here, suppose we just need to try and trust Levy and Jose to do what is best overall.

If i was a betting man i'd say odds are something like 60% he stays, 40% he goes. Personally I hope he goes because I'm an impatient bastard and want to re-invest in the many areas we need to improve but i completely get that he clearly is very talented and if he does leave we could regret it but then i'm hesitant to look at it that way as sometimes players fit well at some clubs and not others and that's just the way it is.

Yep, more noise coming out of Italy:

It's a conundrum. I really wanted us to sign him last summer (and the summer before).

In the long term we might regret selling him. On the other hand, we can’t afford to have him sitting on the bench next season if Jose doesn't rate him. If he's really not going to be selected much then I wouldn't be against swapping him for a promising defender like Skriniar.

However with Ndombele out the door we'd still need another CM or another creative player, IMO.

Sky Sport Italia is Di Marzio and Romano, the rest are not reliable. Both didnt say anything new, looks like this is still the same info from week ago

Romano said in a podcast today that Inter are trying for Ndombele but can't afford the fee and want to swap Skriniar for him. He also said it's hard to see the transfer happening.

I really hope he knuckles down and works it out here. But even if he isn't a defensive dynamo Hojbjerb & Lo Celso will cover more than enough ground to make up for it. We need him for his offensive output and I have no doubt he will deliver that.

Apparently now saying Skirniar is a no but Perisic or Brozovic could be involved, starting to think its lazy journalism but sometimes no smoke without fire...

I hear you mate but I'm not sure he will deliver that if he's not showing the right attitude, not happy here, is carrying lots of knocks or isn't fit enough or working hard to be then all signs point towards him not making it i'm afraid, could easily be proven wrong but would rather not have him sit on our bench all year next year when we could trade that £50m for mabye 2-3 other top players in others area's we need to strengthern.

It's hard to tell when we haven't a clue what goes on behind closed doors / on the training pitch (looking at you @AmazonPrime).

I wanted Jose to use him more after the restart, to at least show Ndombele that there is a future here if he knuckles down. There were definitely games that he could have started / been sent on to help us, but wasn't. I can't blame him for losing interest if he plays for a manager that doesn't trust him.

Having said that, if the rumours are true, and he isn't putting in the work on the training pitch, refuses to get match fit after a year at the club etc, does he deserve to get minutes on the pitch? Doesn't matter how talented he is - you need to have the right attitude.

Then we also have to point the finger at our scouting network too in that attitude wasn’t seen as a problem when we signed him...

A lot of that might have been down to him feeling comfortable in France, his homeland, in a less demanding league.
