If ndombele has another season like this one, what his value will be?
£20-25m, because he wouldn't have had enough playing time to knock any more off his value :p

He hasn't actually been that bad though. A YouTube highlight reel of his best runs, passes and goals in a Spurs shirt would make him look rather impressive. Just needs to get used to the pace of the Premier League and sort his fitness out (it appears he lost weight during lockdown, so that;s a positive sign).
Many players take time to adjust to a new team, let alone a new league and country, and even when they arrive in peak match-fitness.
Unless he really has badly fallen out with Mourinho (I think the media is overplaying that), I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him regularly imposing himself on games towards the middle of next season.

Would really be a shame to see him go, was so excited and had such high expectations at the start of the season.

If he were to go though we really need a quality replacement. May cost a little bit more but Milinkovic Savic would be my choice. Have been linked with him in the past and really seems like a Mourinho player to me

Should he go, it will most certainly be close to what we paid or a swap that’s too good to decline. All I care about is we replace with a player of similar quality. I don’t want winks, sissoko, or gedson (even though I don’t think he’s been given a proper chance yet) as an in house replacement. We must get a top drawer CM or AM, and it shouldn’t cost more than what we’d sell tanguy for to buy SMS or houssem aouar for example.

The last 'swap' Mourinho did was probably about the worst bit of business ever. I don't really think there's much chance of Ndombele going anywhere though.

For me personally I'm happy for the club to go full on wheeler dealer mode and get mourinho some players that fit his system for the here an now. He's only going to be here for a bit and wants a team to challenge for the europa in a few months.

That to me involves relatively low risk situations like the PEH stuff. Maybe an older/cheaper striker back up and who ever else that fits this mould.

I think Ndom is a huge investment and should not be part of this. I see him as potentially being here longer than mourinho and even if he isn't exactly what mourinho wants right now he should stay.

Which swap?

I'm guessing he means Mkhitaryan for Sanchez. Although the way Sanchez went from world-beater at Arsenal to loser at Utd almost instantly was quite remarkable and obviously unpredictable.

But Mourinho has made some good swap deals in the past.

Sanchez would've been such a good foil for Kane. Shame he completely lost "it" upon leaving Arsenal.

I find it funny how in a single tweet Romano says that Inter are negotiating for N'Dombele in spite of our club saying he's not for sale, yet Zaniolo is going nowhere as Roma are saying he's not for sale.

I agree. Ideally we'll move on our fringe players like KWP, Foyth, Rose, CCV and use that money to buy Hojbjerg, Kim and a backup striker. Hopefully we can also sell Aurier and use that money to buy a like-for-like replacement. We might need to put in some extra cash to get a RB/ST of the requisite quality, but it wouldn't be a huge outlay and most of the money would come from 'wheeling and dealing' as you say.

While Ndombele would obviously bring in the most money, I'm unconvinced we could attract or afford anyone with close to his level of talent in this window, especially in central midfield. I also suspect he could outlast Mourinho and go on to be a big success down the line, even if it takes another season or two. Dembele actually had a similar(ish) trajectory at Spurs - he was initially a big hit then completely fell out of favour for a season or two, before flourishing and becoming the lynchpin of our midfield under Poch.

Do we really want to sell what could be a generational talent in order to bring in some functional, but unspectacular replacements? I have no idea how tight our finances are, but you'd hope we could afford to invest an extra 20M or so of our own money rather than being forced to sell Ndombele to cover it. Personally, I'd prefer that we play the long game and give him at least another season before we give up on him.

All spot on and just depends on whats left in the coffers i suppose and If without selling Ndombele Jose just can't improve the squad to the level he wants then it could happen but i'd be suprised if we gave up on him so soon unless he just really wants out.

Yeah the one caveat to my post would be if the relationship between Tanguy and Mourinho has completely broken down and there's no chance of him getting a look-in next season. In that's the case, sad as it might be, we'd probably be better off just letting him go while he still has most of his value in order to help Mourinho push on.

I suspect Levy has some input into this, though, and would not be happy if Mourinho let his record signing rot on the bench after buying Jose the DM he wanted. You'd imagine this is something they've discussed.

Agree with alot of what your saying, but find it hard to believe he has a future here whilst JM is in charge, nothing can convince me JM will play him seeing as he never even put him on as sub after lockdown , so fitness can't be the only issue here, i think they have had a falling out , why else would he not even give him the last ten of games when he was allowed Five subs??...come on its obvious.

Now can they make it up whatever it was ? hope so as he is potentially WC, and exactly what we need if he is fit and on the same page as JM.

I believe he came on as sub in the Sheffield utd game. He's picking players on merit which is why gedson and sessegnon also got next to no game time.

I would be gutted if we let him go and i think DL would be loathed to sell as well but if he has fallen out with Jose and the damage is irreparable, we have to back the manager this summer. No point wasting another season with Jose (like him or not) not having the tools he wants.

One solution we cannot accept though is DL selling TN, feeling like he has replaced him with PEH and trousering the rest of the money!!

Which is the most likely outcome knowing our Daniel
