Spot on. The lad has serious ability but I just can't see him playing week in week out in the Premier League. I think he would be better off in a different league where the intensity is not as high.

Agree for the most part but also wonder if playing in the summer exposes that weakness more than it would the rest of the year.

Wasn’t incredible or anything but you can see what he’s about, if we are going to continue to be so fluid offensively he is a must. Has to start. Zero chance Mourinho plays him against Arsenal though.
We should be playing him in a three with Winks and Sissoko, and Lo Celso up with Son and Kane. The other wingers have been dogshit the last couple of matches.

We can agree to disagree. I see from that 2nd half someone who can pick a pass but who can't withstand Bournemouth's pressure. His average position in the game is going deeper and deeper; i don't know if it's because no one else can move the ball forwards, but my impression (and this is just that) is that he feels less pressure doing so, but that's exactly what the opposition wants you to do.

I feel that he is a smart guy who wants to do the easy thing. I don't think this is a good quality. I much rather him be like Lamela or Moura; they lose the ball a lot too, but they never shy from trying to carry the ball forwards and confront challenges.

Mourinho changed his position and moved him back, that’s why he got deeper....

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I'd imagine he'll play some part but not start.

He was great for about 10-15 minutes until he started drifting into a left back position for some reason. We need him on the ball in dangerous areas.

Yeah looks like we will have to agree to disagree on this one mate.

He moved back as we went to a midfield 2 so he had to show more positional discipline. In terms of Lamela and Moura, one of my biggest frustrations is their constant need to give away silly fouls and further disrupt the flow to the game. Think it is a British thing where we love to see people sprinting and putting a foot in. Even when it adds no benefit.

The thing that struck me about Tanguy was how much more assertive and direct his passing was compared to all our other players. Constantly trying to put us on the front foot with difficult threaded balls through a crowd, disguised balls and no look passes.

I agree he needs to improve physically but he is a player we need to invest time on the pitch into. People always think teams carry a player who cannot put the same energy in as others and it gets called out consistently. What worries me is most of our match day squads we are carrying at least 3 players from a technical perspective. Constantly slowing our play down and failing in basic areas.

Fitness can be improved, technique cant.

his physique is closer to a rugby player rather than a footballer. FFS put the donut down, watch what you eat and train really really hard.

if he was 2/3 stone lighter, he would be faster, more mobile and less prone to little injuries, and then maybe we could build a team around him because he could be that good

His spare tyre is gone. Maybe less eating out because of the lockdown.

The guy has as much right as anyone in the team to start against Arsenal. At least he passes forward.

I have added Ndombele into the sell list now. It’s not because he was effective/ ineffective when he came on...

It’s because in a game that had 243 stoppages and breaks, Ndombele gasping for air after 90 minutes let alone after 12 minutes of injury time
This is such a false statement.

We play with wingers? I thought we had 7 central players with a right wingback who can’t cross?

He was the only player wanting to carry the ball forward and make things happen, and having the ability to do so. Obviously his (lack of) conditioning is an issue at the minute, but he’s still shown more ability in his limited time this season than Winks and Sissoko have in their combined Spurs careers.

Do you not think Lucas coming on for Sissoko might have something to do with him dropping deeper?

I’ve been critical of ndombele but thought he did well today got to be in over sissoko. We need to move forward can’t keeping playing the same rubbish as the what we have for the last two years

Still looks too heavy but to be honest, I'm at a point where i'm just so disenchanted with what I'm currently seeing, I'd just throw him in for the last few games and try and enjoy the few runs forward, neat passes and bits of skill he produces even at the expense of his half assed off the ball work. What happens to him at the end of season, who knows but watching the likes of Winks and Sissoko is sucking the life out of me.

His ability to make unpredictable forward passes sets him apart from all of our other midfielders. If only he had Lo Celso in front of him today instead of Lamela, we may have actually got somewhere.

I'd still like to see him play in a 3 man midfield with Lo Celso and Skipp (our only DM), but I think it's essential we get him and Lo Celso on the field together one way or another.
