I sure hope that we dont let 2 great players (potentially world class players) just pass us buy and never see from them what many of us know they are capable off.

I just think to myself that there is no way that 2 players like tanguy and gio can come into the club and then leave to move on without ever really having there time to shine. They are both of the quality that top teams all shop for in players.
Salah and De Bruyne say hi :shifty:

He’s a good player but I’m finding it slightly ridiculous we’ve spent £60 million on a player who isn’t fit to finish 90 minutes every week.

I agree mate. We always talk about "oh they've not had a Poch pre season", or "he could do with a pre season under Mourinho". Did this guy not have any pre season at all?

He's not just some guy off the street, he's a very top level player and I do struggle to understand how (groin injury aside) he seems so unfit.

I've seen glimpses of what a player he could be for us, so desperately want him to get fit and firing on all cylinders. However, it's hard not to be disappointed that we're 4 months into the season and as yet haven't seen much.

JJ has already confirmed that lack of playing time does not mean that GLC is not rated

Yeah it's mental we're talking about this in December tbh.

I think this fella would benefit from a pre season under Jose in fact the whole squad should be ready to go next August I'm looking forward to how we shape up then.

Probably, but he’s already had a pre season with Poch and still looks like he’s knackered after playing for 30 mins.

I don't know much about Soumare and I'm sure he's a great young talent, but he doesn't seem to be the DM we urgently need ASAP. He's never averaged more than 1 tackle a game in any competition for Lille. That's not just low for a DM, it's what Eriksen has averaged in his time at Spurs.

For comparison, Ndidi has averaged over 4 tackles a game the last two seasons.

It’s pretty well known he’s struggled with his weight and general fitness when he was younger. His rise has been very sharp, be interesting to see how he matures and settles down.

Where are you getting those stats? I just watched a couple of his performances against PSG and another team and he made over 4 tackles each time.

Most tackles, or what look like tackles to the average football fan, actually go down as interceptions when it comes to football stats.

Tackles is probably the most misleading stat there is because of this.

If we are going for Soumaré to pair with Ndombele I'd rather go for Zakaria.

I think Zakaria is the type of player we need atm.

Looking at our midfield options suppose can make a case we are still short in that area in terms of numbers. First thought would be a DM rather than a box to box type that Soumare seems to be. I don't think Mourinho sees Sissoko as a central midfielder longer term. That leaves us with Dier, Winks, Ndombele, so maybe a move for Soumare could make sense.

Suppose the question is, what will Mourinho go to formation be in the future. If he sticks with a 4231, I think Dier is nailed on to start and it would be Ndombele or Soumare. If he went to a 433, then Dier, Ndombele and Soumare in midfield becomes an option. Maybe he wants the flexibility of being able to play both formations. However, as things stand, think he'll be keen to start Kane, Son, Dele and Moura together so wouldn't be surprised if we saw 4231 a lot of the time.

I think it's an application issue opposed to a physical one. If you're a professional athelete and you're blowing after 30 minutes of football after 3-4 months of the season starting then you're either eating like a prick or you're not putting the work in at the training ground or the gym.

I'm actually quite astounded that barely anybody seems bothered that our record signing has shown such a lack of passion and commitment to his craft and the club. It's lazy and it pisses me off.

the thing is, it kind of sums up our scouting. How much research did we do into his fitness levels while at Lyon. How much did we look into how he looks after himself etc. Because at the moment it’s looking like we only watched YouTube clips like the fans.

But I truest can’t believe levy would sanction such a huge transfer without doing these things. It’s just unlike him.

All very frustrating. What if he is physically incapable of playing at premier league level despite his outstanding talent? I can’t believe it, I really can’t believe we’d be so short sighted. Something else must be going on. Some underlying injury or something.

LOL look at some of my old posts on the guy. I was never convinced. He has great potential but he’s a five minutes of gold per game player. The rest of the time he is invisible. Anyway to give him the benefit of the doubt, I think he was unfit when he arrived and Poch’s training has broken something. He seems to have been playing with a strain or something.

I think he adds more than that from what I have seen. Forward thinking and good on the ball, however his fitness levels are appalling and he needs a little time to adapt to the premiership i.e. he needs to know when to release the ball and not lose possession in perhaps more dangerous areas within the premiership than in France.

Just gotta give him time to settle in. Keita at Liverpool was talked about as the second coming of Kante with added attacking ability and hes still not nailed down a first team spot 18 months on. Then you have Fred who looked about as good a signing as Bebe but hes had a run of games and in the last few has showed signs. We need to be patient, we've already seen glimpses.

He started great, with goals to show for it. But we know he's been injured on and off thus far, so lets just be patient.

Poch said he'd need a season or two to reach full potential. It took Lucas about a year to settle.
