We need a proper DM behind him in big games so that he can really flourish. At this point I doubt Dier will get back to his best, and Sissoko isn't a DM even though his workrate up the pitch is superb. Just need to find someone to sit in that hole 25 yards out. Easier said than done

I think we need to keep doing what we're doing by getting Dier up to speed with as many minutes off the bench as possible. Have Sissoko take the role for now, have Winks replace Ndombele when Ndombele starts to flag in games.

Ndombele looks an excellent acquisition. He has all the talent.

The only question is his fitness. He looks to be carrying a bit of timber on him and there is a big gap in the fitness levels required in the French league to the Premier League. If he has the attitude needed to get in top shape and up to speed fitness wise, he could arguably become the best midfielder in the league. He has everything, including an eye for goal.

I do wonder if he might be even more dangerous further forward. But he was signed to play central midfield and make those vertical passes we’ve seen so far. He’ll lose the ball making those passes but so far I’ve been impressed with how much he hasn’t.

Who did he play central midfield with at Lyon, I’m assuming they were more defensively minded, maybe we should be going for him ASAP?

He played mostly with Lucas Tousart, a more defensive midfielder (as you correctly assumed). I think he's just a bog standard DM, one you'll see at a Bournemouth or Southampton, but maybe I'm missing something. We can aim higher than him.

The guy just oozes class. An exceptional talent. One of those players that can pretty much be whatever he wants to be. Quick, strong, skilful with a phenomenal passing range. Especially with those aggressive passes in between the lines that allows players to run directly at the back 4.

Reminds me of Yaya Toure in some ways.

It's also the weight of his passes that is quite exceptional. Players hardly have to break stride or alter course when he passes to them. He can also take players on and dribble so he must be very hard to play against.

So much talent, as said above, he can be whatever he wants to be.

His passing range is elite and is creative with it.

Once he and GLC are up to speed, we will forget Eriksen even existed.

Two assists in the game. The pass to Harry was better than Harry made it look, but Harry’s finish was cool as.
I have been a massive fan of Eriksen over the years, but I think NDombele can offer more than the CE we’ve seen this last two years. Possibly more than CE at his best? The way NDom can create space, dribble, tackle and the vision, range of passing etc Maybe has a few more strings to his bow than CE.
I really enjoyed his performance on Tuesday. With Dele, Harry, Son and Lamela’s movement on Tuesday, it was so good to watch. Chuck Lo Celso into that line-up....gives me a buzz.

about 1.25 into that vid is the start of Son's second goal, didn't realise how far back he started from before putting the afterburners on

He’s awesome. Should build the midfield around him.

It’s as simple as that really - we need to lay the platform for him to do whatever he wants. Pass, tackle, dribble - he’s the total midfielder

I said this before. The closest comparison is de Bruyne. An attacking play maker with all round CM skills

As I've mentioned before, his defensive awareness (and tracking etc) is his biggest weakness but I am confident that under Poch he will develop those skills.

We need to build the midfield around him and find a suitable partner at DM for him. Someone who reads the game very well, knows how to plug gaps and track runners, whilst having the energy to cover ground and decent technical ability to pass and move the ball. This will really be a key acquisition. Skipp definitely has huge potential in this role but we need a more established player (22-25 years old) too.

When he reaches full fitness and is fully adjusted, Ndombele can become the best CM in the entire league, if not in Europe.

Looking forward to seeing a midfield of:

Proper-DCM
Ndombele Lo Celso

Signing someone like Doucoure from Watford would make a lot of sense. I know he can be a real box-to-box number 8, but he could also be the closest we'll get to a 2016 Wanyama.

What are you basing your thoughts on Doucoure on? I see you have mentioned him specifically in two threads. My Watford supporting mates say that he is OK, but you seem really possitive about him.

On the 7 or 8 times I have seen him play over the last two seasons he has always been a standout player. He brings a physical presence that can dominate the middle of the pitch, but also is technically good with both feet. He is aerially very strong offensively and defensively from set pieces and has a great engine and can eat up ground when countering or defending a counter.

I have only seen him versus us or one of the other top sides in Sky games, so maybe he raises his game?
