Squad player nothing more !
See, I actually like the lad. He keeps the ball moving and doesn't hide from it. He's not perfect but he's a good player and will only improve with a decent DM alongside him. Of late, he's been asked to play that role and it doesn't suit his game, he's a give and go player, get the ball, move it quickly and show for it again.
I think he gets a lot of unjustified stick on here because he's not a highlight player.

I actually think that signing Hojberg could free Winks up and Let him play more.
Winks is a decent player and always wants the ball, having someone defensive alongside him could free him up to play his natural game, which I think is a lot better than he gets credit for.
At another club? I agree ?

He's between De Jong and Baba, wouldn't say that it's not quick. Reading comments about him here you would think that he's maximum League 1 player not an England international (y)

Don’t think you need stats when you watch him game after game take far too many touches slow the game down and pass back and sideways on far too many occasions and have the defensive capability of a paper bag! Anyway this is about hojbjerg and it’s great to see we are addressing weak areas within the squad

Think that's incredibly harsh on Winks, given he's spent most of the last 2 years playing with incredibly static attackers in front of him, no consistent competent players alongside him and a partner in Sissoko who usually hides from the ball.

Oh, maybe because I watch games and additionally I can use stats to have evidence that oh, he can pass forwards or break the lines or make a progressive pass or move the ball relatively quickly.

People seem to forget how he played for England when he wasn’t the only cm. Plenty of forward passing even had shot. Think we’ll see this player if we get a dm in.

I think some people just don't rate Winks which is fair enough. Apparently he is not good enough for a team chasing Champions League football.

Over the last 5 seasons he has played over 150 matches for us and in 4 of those we qualified for champions league.

He might not be top quality but he is 100% good enough for a top 4 team which has been proven by the fact that he is playing regularly for a top 4 team.

There is way too much hyperbole on the internet, whereas the reality is Winks is a good solid pro who will never be the star player in our team but is a valuable member of the squad. He is also club trained and an England international, both of which are significant

Sissoko gets lots of praise for his hard work but Winks never seems to get recognised for this even though he works his nuts off.

Winks is accused of never passing forwards but stats prove this is a myth.

Regardless of facts, those who are anti Winks keep banging the same drum, to the point where their opinion is worthless as it is no longer objective, just some weird personal crusade to prove a point.

I'm not a big fan of Sissoko but I don't feel the need to mention it 100 times a day.

Alex Crook (southhampton correspondent) reporting on TalkSport that absolutely nothing has changed in regards to our or southampton's valuation of Hoijberg.

Essentially, its going to drag on, as is the way with our transfers

All transfers. Because you don't care about any other clubs or look at any other deals in as much forensic detail as you do the ones for Spurs.

Could we do stuff quicker? Probably. Could all clubs? Probably. Is there a funnier way of saying probably? Nobably.
