I thought he did well last night. Too bad the EL game is 48 hours after because I would have started him at CM for this as well. He needs games and did well last night against a very close to full strength Chelsea side. Keep playing him in the EL and who knows, maybe he’d prove decent enough to give an opportunity to in the Prem. We have him for 12 more months at least. Might as well play him before we make a decision on a purchase

Thought he was decent last night, too. He's a little bit of a conundrum as he definitely is skillful, but unsurprisingly he looks a little short on confidence. Long periods of the match would go by where he wasn't actively showing for the ball and hiding a tad. Hopefully we have a plan to get him some minutes in some of these "lesser" competitions and really see what he's got. I still feel like there's a really good player there.

But the question will be is he worth the money Benfica will ask for him?
If I'm Benfica I'd be looking for 30m at least since he's already a full international and played 60 senior games for them.
Would we say spending that would be sensible and do we think that's value considering we have White and Skipp waiting for their respective chances

I think there's a pre determined fee as part of the option to buy on the loan agreement, I also think it's around 50m Euros. I might have made that up though.

But if we were to send him back now, they wouldn’t get anywhere near that sort of fee, I’d probably argue that they wouldn’t get near €30m at this moment in time.

I hope he gets a chance tomorrow night, he did look okay last night and I think if he had more minutes under his belt he probably would have scored when he got his chance.

Hopefully he gets enough game time to prove that he is worth keeping.

I haven't seen a £30m+ player in there yet, but it's too early to write him off.

When do we have to make a decision on him? summer 2021? raw, very young (21), seems confident in his own ability but is that what we want right now? 30mil i fear could be his "ceiling value", could argue that levy wants to take him, to make a 5/10mil profit on him in 3/4 years time, but at 21 i would expect to see more right now? hope i am not being too harsh

Well certainly still dint see that in Sissoko, and I know who I would rather
I agree I think he provides a good alternative to Sissoko tbh. When we can’t get Lo Celso and Ndombele on the pitch together he seems like he could do a job for us if he gets game time

Where does he stand now? Not in the squad against Man United, even with Lo Celso injured, and Sissoko played a good game.

The brutal nature of our now massively improved and more competitive squad.

Pressure is on for Gedson this season. if he wants a long term future at the club, he's likely going to have to start by proving himself in the Europa League [barring significant injuries to our other midfielders] where he will definitely get chances now that we can have 12 players on the bench and field 5 substitutes in a match.

The domestic cups, especially the early rounds of the FA Cup and potentially Stoke (A) in our EFL Cup Quarter Final fixture could also be matches where he'll have the opportunity to show what he's capable of to some capacity.

Sissoko will be miles ahead of Gedson as long as he has the body he does and Gedson has the body he does.

Foyth is a similar case, for all their technical ability they need power in their game in the Premier League, how you get this I have no idea, maybe it will just change as they get to their mid 20's.

With the size of the current squad from which you can pick two complete different teams ( barring injuries ), Gedson would seem to be way down the pecking order , he might get on the bench for one of the away EL group games but if Dele is back in the good books and Gareth soon to be challenging for a place where is he going to get game or bench time. If he is signed up full time think he is one for the future.

He has only a chance if others get injured. If you look at the squad:

Hart/ LLoris/ Gazza - Serge/ Doherty, Toby/Dier, Japhet/Sanchez, Davies/Sergio - Winks/PEH, Sissoko/GLC - Tanguy/Dele - Bergwijn/Son, Kane/ Vinicius - Bale/Lamela/ Lucas

He fits nowhere near the Top 23. He is like third choice for several positions at best and needs to hope for some game time in Europa League, if he is even going to be nominated with Rodon knocking on the door.
A bit of a strange one given our lack of Non HG positions

Have you seen Gedsons body? He is fit as a butchers dog.

He's just not good enough now we have significantly strengthened across the board. If he doesn't make the Europa squad it's probably best to try and see if we can break the agreement in Jan. Could do well at a smaller side.

Did well against Chelsea imo, but he's no different (imo) to someone like Parrott or White or Cirkin, as in looks good but you can tell he's a bit of a young prospect type maybe.

I can only imagine we're fattening the goose, but it's also just as confusing as Pau Lopez was

Maybe the fact he's 21, we can see him having a strong future there's a possibility that we're happy to develop him through training and him not playing games lowers the future fee. I don't know it's pure guessing at this point.

Might be left out the europa league squad, I'm guessing it's probably a toss up between him and Gazaniga
