I still don’t actually know what type of player he is and what his best position is.

Very strange signing...

I believe Gedson is a good player but it'll be difficult for him to showcase that playing so sporadically. I see his development as long term.

I love how we're building the squad currently and for the future with potentially Rodon Skipp Sess White Parrott etc

Honestly, if we were going to keep Gedson, we needed to sign him permanently this summer then loan him out. He needs games. If we werent going to play him, we needed to cancel the loan. Our squad problems are too deep to persist with this situation as is.

Agree, I think he's got talent and think he'll develop into a very good player it's just I don't think he's settled on a position yet.

What harm is it causing to our squad?

I can see him in a 3 alongside Holjberg and Ndombele/Lo Celso but not in a 2 at the moment. His opportunities though are going to be so slim. I don't think he has shown enough to justify the massive fee associated with buying him. Sadly I think we move on.

Think some of you probably asking too much of this lad TBH. He's only 21 fucking years old yeah.

I hope he himself doesn't feel so hard done by what the fans are thinking. If he is working hard and taking whatever opportunities he's given by Mourinho, he should definitely has the support.

Saying yeah at the end of a sentence is a real bugbear of mine, but in real life conversations it is more irritating yeah.

Waste of time then this loan deal, just terminate it.

We are wasting both his time and our time. Not at all fair on the lad. Let’s face it he was a bit of a panic buy in January when we were decimated by injuries. Should have sent him back this window.

Can we loan out a loaned player?? Might as well send him to the championship at this rate. Completely wasting his time as he's nowhere near getting in our squad.

It seems like this thread gets bumped every time he doesn't play a match.

Maybe, but in that case expect it to get bumped more than someone falling down a huge staircase because I doubt he’ll play a match until Stoke away unless we get a huge injury crisis.

Fact is he’s not going to get any game time to show whether he’s worth the very large fee option we have to buy him after this season. At the moment you would surely have to say that £50m + of funds next summer would be put to better use elsewhere.

Does anybody actually know what's going on with him, and how is he seen by Jose and staff? It feels strange. From the little we've seen of him, I think he's got something, but not sure what!?

He’s a CM and should be played as such.
Last season he was utilised in more attacking roles, but seemed to lack an end product (couldn't pick out a final ball and shots were passed to the GK). I wonder whether that was to give him experience without the pressure of defensive responsibilities.

In terms of positioning / decision-making / passing range etc. I think he's more suited to CDM than CM, but he's not particularly physically imposing. Physicality would be less of a pre-requisite for that role in Portugal or Spain.

In pre-season, I thought he looked very promising as a RWB (but I don't think RB would suit him). I'm interested to know whether Jose thinks he has a future there or was simply keeping Aurier out of the team (his future was in question) and didn't have any other established RB / RWB (Doherty not signed yet).
