Not a bad player at all, but I think he'll end up like Foyth. Will he ever get 15-20 games playing regularly here? I don't see it unfortunately.

tough crowd. he's only 21 with a handful of appearances, mostly off the bench.
I think the expectation levels are increased due to the rumoured high value option we have on him. At the moment he runs around alot and looks athletic, but we've not seen footballing abilites to match.

He did well at closing down spaces and getting around the pitch but he was pretty bad on the ball.

My problem is I don’t think he better than players like Skipp, Bowden or white and he’s taking valuable minutes from them.

I thought he played alright tbh. Although, at the same time, I'd be surprised if he's with us next season. Hopefully he can prove me wrong.

I am not sure what he brings to us that makes him any more exciting than our youth players. He closed down quite well sometimes but was never really able to hold the ball or make some good link up play. Not sure he is seeing enough minutes here to develop.
I would have no problem with him being part of the squad depth but what honestly really bothers me is that he is taking up a Non- HG spot we desperately could do with for Skriniar and/or a back up striker.

Fot that reason alone I would cancel the loan if possible.

He is OK, and therein lies the problem. We can't afford to have more OK midfielders. An OK striker would be great, but we have plenty of OK midfielders.

OK?

I think the main problem is the fact that on paper he could be a good replacement to Sissoko, but is probably more technical with less physical strength. He probably needs a run of matches but it's hard to see him getting that. On paper you'd move Sissoko on for a fee as he's getting older and passing the torch on to the MF, but I think MS is important this season with the mindset of "winning now".

I really think there's a decent, hardworking player in there that just needs consistency and confidence but not sure if the timing is right. He's one for the future remember.

Was reasonable, not the best, not the worst

Would be amazed though if we take up the option at the end of the season, at the rumoured amount of it

I would imagine if we did keep him it would be far lower than that amount quoted due to everything that has happened in the world since.

He is man of many things but master of none. I think he is a good squad player that we can use in different positions. If he develops further he could end up being a great asset.

surely we could just let the deal lapse and then offer a moderate amount that we think represents value? The option is only to give us a confirmed price incase he pops off and other people would be interested...I can't see a bidding war at the moment

I see him as the ling term replacement and upgrade for Moussa Sissoko.
better technically
Not quite as good atheletically
I think there is a a player there. But I also think he needs to stay in one area of the pitch. Thus far he has played right back, right wing back, centre mid, number ten and left wing for us - that breed nothing but uncertainty

he is you know!

Anyone know what the rumoured fee is?
I think it's €40m unless I'm mistaken

Agreed. We want him to do well but he will not get the required game time to improve with us. He'll most likely see some starts in the FA Cup, maybe get some minutes in the Europa League and the occasional premier league appearance from the bench. Doesn't seem like there's a real plan for his progress but rather a " we can throw him on the field to give so and so a break" approach.
