I think he could play that role but it remains to be seen whether Doherty needs babysitting to the same extent as Aurier. I don't see Gedson making the team in a CM2 but might get a chance in a 3. At present I'd see him as a Cup player only.

Still think he's a slightly odd signing in that he's basically the same player as Dele. Same style of play, lots of stamina and little tricks and flicks but no one is really sure of his best position or where he fits into the team.

I think he’s far more a CM than an AM, he seems happier trying to get on the ball deep and have most of the pitch in front of him. Dele as we know likes playing high up the pitch. I accept that there are some stylistic similarities but positionally and functionally I think they’re quite different.

He's not wanted by the current Benfica manager after falling out. I can see us developing him as a future Right Back but not for the stated transfer in the loan agreement. If they sold him to us cheaper he could be a good alternative especially if Aurier leaves

This. I have no idea where his best position is supposed to be. People have compared him to Dele, but on the evidence so far he doesn’t come close in terms of movement. Is he defensive? Does he have much pace/trickery?

I think this window will see movement here. Dont think we’ll cancel loan. But we’ll probably try to make it permanent for a cheaper fee. Especially if the striker will be a loan to buy. If the striker is not, it would still give us space for a loan in January.

For the sake of his development, he really needs to be in a team where he'll play at least 30 games a season. He looks quite unsure of himself when he has the ball and would routinely play it back during the Chelsea game, when a forward pass or forward run was open to him. If Sissoko get sold this season, then Gedson might have a chance to feature more but it's unlikely Moussa is going anywhere.
