I'll call it a youthful mistake but he has about one big mistake in him per game. Sometimes it costs us, sometimes it doesnt.

He's generally been very good defensively under Mourinho. If we can put less of an onus on him to make passes out from the back by playing midfielders that want the ball, then he'll have an even better time.

He’s been our best defender all season and it isnt even close.

Sanchez and Toby are our CB partnership for me now. Even if we finally get a good LB again I don't see Vertonghen fighting his way back to start.

But Sanchez does still worry me more than a little bit. He's a huge man but he loses duels he should be a clear favourite in far too often because his balance and close control let him down, he gets shoved off the ball too easily.

On the flip side I feel like he has to do so much covering for Aurier these days that it totally compromises his partnership with Toby and pretty much all other aspects of his defending as well, and he's done well to mostly cope well with the way he's being forced to play.

I wouldn't say Sanchez is huge in defender terms Vertonghen Alderweireld are bigger. Defenders at times might lose duels today's strikers are explosive. The mistake that tends to happen with Sanchez is poor selection or weight of pass not helped when we have a poor midfield

Darren Bent has said "Jose will sell Sanches because he said he did not rate him whilst at Man Unt" now I don't Know the truth of this statement but at the moment Sanches is a mainstay of our defence just witness the improvement when he came on against Norwich .
I for one rate Sanches and don't want him to be sold .

He’s just saying that based on Mourinho’s comments about him when they played Ajax in the europa final.

Darren Bent knows fuck all

Was he carrying an injury today? Can't fathom why he wouldn't have played otherwise.

Think he thought we're making so many mistakes at the back that he might as well go back to he thought was a tried & trusted pairing, but it turns out they're just as mistake ridden as our other CB's.

Not sure where he goes from here, although I think our problems are mainly in the mid-field where we can't dominate to any extent & keep us on the front foot. Too often we give the ball away & one longball into the channel has us in trouble & finding the right combination in the 2 would go along way to helping us improve.

Maybe so, but for me Sanchez has been our steadiest defender this season so it’s bizarre to see him left out in a match where we couldn’t play a DM to provide protection for the back line because of Dier having a virus. Vertonghen looks finished and was surely in greater need of a rest than Sanchez, just really odd to me that he didn’t play.

Heard he is carrying slight hamstring problems.

I can actually remember him a few games back stretching them out and it actually looked like he was coming off at one point now you’ve said it.

Our medical staff and sports science team really need a revamp though so many silly injuries

Third game in a row he hasn't started, and third game in a row we haven't won. The Vertonghen / Alderweireld partnership is too slow and broken, he needs to be back in the starting 11. Aside from Foyth's turnover, all of the goals we've conceded post Chelsea we've been burned for pace. His speed is huge for us. Best CB at the club.
