We have reached agreement with Turkish Süper Lig side Galatasaray for the transfer of Davinson Sanchez.

The Colombia international defender joined us from Ajax in August, 2017, making his debut as a substitute in a 1-1 home draw with Burnley in the Premier League later that month, his full debut following in a 3-0 victory at Everton that September.

I hated the stick some “fans” gave him. I think this is a good move for him.

It also hopefully means we have a couple of young prospects coming through. With the possibility of Emerson as cover too, we should be fine.

GL Davo, thanks for your six years of service.

Seeing how we now play with the high press, I would have preferred moving Dier out and keeping Sanchez, as we are short in that area.

I always liked him and he always gave his best. We have had many worse defenders than him and he did not deserve the abuse he received. Good luck for the future Davinson.

Thanks for your service, Davinson, and good luck in Turkey!

It never quite worked out for him, did it? The main ingredients were there, athletic, strong, tall, good header etc. The lapses in concentration and occasional poor positioning were certainly problems. Perhaps he also lacked some mental toughness and determination, both important for a top-shelf centre-back.

Does leave is a little short but on the other hand at least we should now actually have squad space to bring in a new centre back either in January or next summer. :)

I don't think having Davinson as back-up really benefitted us. He's proven to be not good enough. In my opinion it's good to see us move on, and if we bought Phillips with confidence in him let's play him if/when the opportunity arises.

Absolutely not. The guy got jeered off the pitch by his own 'fans' and then played the next match and had a decent game. He stepped up to take a pen when others obviously didn't want to a week ago. If that isn't mental toughness and determination I'm not sure what is.

Shame to see him go cos I think he suits Ange's style of football more than Jose/Nuno/Conte styles, but glad he gone after what the fans did to him.

Although he had a decent first season with us, hindsight suggests joining us probably wasn't the best move for his career. He probably didn't get enough playing time during his early 20s to fulfil his potential, due to being behind Jan & Toby in the pecking order. If he'd joined a mid-table PL team, he would have been a regular starter and right now could either be a key player there or have earned a move to a bigger club as a regular starter.

We need to trust our young players; Philips and Dorrington.

iMO Sanchez leaving is very positive

Thanks big Dave you always tried ur best for the shirt - the stick you got was wrong and I wish you every success

I suspect big Ange will be using Philips as 3rd CB which is bold but the right thing to do IMHO - having a young hungry team will reap its rewards

He was a lot better than the flak he got suggested. Never shirked and gave it his all. Best of luck Dav.
