How many goals have we conceded under Jose ? I’m sorry not convinced.
10 goals in 7 games.

3 set pieces
2 penalties
1 direct free kick

4 goals conceded from open play.

1 long range thunderbolt from Traore.
1 goalkeeping error against Rashford (after Sanchez had tackled Lingard)
1 goal from Antonio scoring from in between Davies and Alderweireld (after Sanchez blocked a shot and nobody cleared up the second ball)
1 goal from a cross from our right side straight to the left side of our goal where Wilson arrived completely unmarked (Sanchez was guarding the near post)

All in all, I'd say that's not bad going. And he's only going to get better as he gets more and more game time in a settled defence.

EDIT: That's in the league.

Sanchez is our defensive rock. He is the only one I don't worry about in defence. He has pace, his positioning is improving rapidly and he anticipates well. Sure he like everyone will make the odd mistake but our whole defence needs to be built around him.

When you break it down it really I sn’t quite as bad as it feels - really it’s the set pieces that are killing us, both defending them and not giving them away in bad positions.

By far the best defender at the club. I actually feel Alderweireld and Vertonghen( when played at CB) are an embarrassment they both do not engage nor do they bring the ball out of defence.
I would like to see Foyth alongside Sanchez

He's not perfect, has concentration lapses, gets bullied easily and his passing isn't good enough. Playing next to Toby minimizes a lot of his weaknesses though and his positives by far outweigh his negatives. One of the best players since Mourinho took over and he is still young and will improve.

Whilst I agree that Jan looks to be showing his age more this season. Toby has been mostly solid defensively whilst also being the only player behind the forwards with the ability to pass forwards with any regularity.

How we can judge any defensive options until we sort out a midfield to help them is crazy.

Sanchez has really impressed me this season though. Looks to be improving slowly each game.

I love when people offer up the classic if you think straw man when presenting an argument

I just hope Ledley takes him to the side and tells him to calm down a little when he is one on one. This is the biggest area to his game and his heading that needs development. He loses 9/10 one on ones from a favourable position where he will try to out barge someone its comedy tbh how often he comes off worst. Instead of just using his great pace to mirror the players run and usher him away from goal. Ledley was immense at this, such a smart defender, rarely going to ground or diving in, just using his pace and body to move a player away from danger. Sanchez has these tools, i hope he can improve on this.

Loads of road in between bees knees and embarrassment my friend.

Just watch our next games in particular Alderweireld Vertonghen we re lead to believe they’re ball playing CB . I honestly can’t remember seeing either carrying the ball past the half way line without going from side to side.

Are you serious about him losing out aerially and hold on 9/10 one on ones .

I suggest you watch him then watch Alderweireld. Then come back to us about what you are seeing

Jan in particular hasn’t carried the ball forward for quite some time. It’s a bit of a shame to see especially considering Davidson seems to do this with regularity and he’s probably our worst player on the ball.

He was mainly at fault for MU's 1st goal & whilst he has potential he still has a fault in him for me. At times he needs to be a steady Eddie at times & put the ball into the stands rather than be too clever with the ball.

Jan was our best defender for many seasons but he has fallen away this year. If we can sell Rose we need a new left back.

Currently best CB at the club. His pace is huge for us. In my head if he starts today's match ahead of Foyth we come away with 3 points.
