Hopefully I am wrong but I can’t help but feel that unless we get some big updates on him today this will be one of those that slip away!

the old ‘we tried but we will go back in for him in Jan etc...’

Please Levy ??

Gotta laugh at those taking the piss out of Fulham. We’ve been done by Villa and Newcastle at least during the window to date.

Anyway having muddled through without a striker till the changes last night I’m still hopeful we spend the little money we have on more quality up top,
For which players have we been “done”?

None? Ok, as you were.

Yup, really muddled through outplaying Chelsea having made nine changes.

Not sure I agree, and I’m usually really pessimistic about these things.

I feel that the board back Jose, and he’s said: this is the guy, this is our VVD.

It’s a position that, if strengthened with the riguy player, could make a really big difference.

I think it’s more likely to happen than not.

Look, I had a roundup email last night from a news aggregator site with an unreferenced quote that 'Skriniar has chosen Spurs', so we can all stop shitting the bed now. It's done. Fire up flightradar.

Come on, Cliff. We know that you're no Levy fan but it's perfectly obvious to even the most casual observer that our interest, such as it was, in Wilson and Watkins was solely of the backup plan variety. We have other irons in the fire that are significantly higher up in the order of preference.

I know that we're all sick of having to wait for the club to sign another striker, and worried that it will fail in that endeavour yet again, but let's not start trying to spin things to suggest that we were "beaten" to our fourth or fifth choice players by clubs further down the pecking order when we actually had no real intention of buying them at the time.

Seems the player isn't that confident a deal will be done, which is probably as good a indication as you'll get for where negotiations are at. Still a chance obviously but I think he'll end up staying at Inter.

My impression of that Slovakian report was that it was merely rehashing reports from Italy from before the weekend. The wording was very much the same as reports back then, certainly. So it's likely out of date information.

Not being funny but just because we don’t get updates doesn’t mean that nothing is happening, we know that we’re in talks, ITK seem confident, and even Ally Gold has said were in talks. Like I said yesterday it’s probably more quiet than usual because we don’t want to start a bidding war.

Hoping that this has one has gone “quiet” as the deal is agreed, and we are letting Inter source their replacement before we let the news break.

Fingers crossed we can bring him in. This is the calibre of player that can make a difference.

Not overly concerned by the media silence, we have had Trix, Herc & Val all say this is looking like happening.

Coupled with Hitchen going out to Milan for three days, I think this will happen. Someone mentioned us waiting for qualifying for Europe to pull the trigger and that sounds logical to me.

Look I'll admit, I'm as anxious as anybody to get this deal over the line because I think adding a top quality defender really elevates our aspirations this season but let's look at all the factors objectively.

All the ITK people are positive, I know we have to take it with a pinch of salt but it's something to consider.

We are the top team linked with him, no other team of a higher calibre is involved especially with our manager so the chances of us being gazumped are slim because we are most likely Skriniar first choice.

Most other teams are playing a highline so the chances of United, Chelsea coming in are slim at best and United have other priorities. We're best suited to sign him

Inter need money, Conte has said so himself so it's not opinion it's a fact and they want to do more business and need the funds.

We have seen our DOF in Milan to do the deal, that doesn't happen unless there's a good relationship between the clubs.

We have left out Foyth, Gazzaniga and Dele from a game where we were desperate for rotation especially in the positions Foyth and Dele play; that tells me that we are likely to sort our outgoings to do the deal.
