He's my favourite defender in the world, but, at least we know that if all goes well with our signings (Vinicius etc) that next summer we can concentrate on buying just 3 players ( a top centre defender, a top centre mid and a young right back )

I know we had a great window and I have no idea what the club finances are actually like, but a world class CB who wants to join us isn’t going to be that cheap again and this really feels like a missed opportunity. It could have been our Van Dijk moment, especially with how open the league looks to be this season.

Looks like we might go down the route of 'you score 1 or 2, we will score 3 or 4' route which is fine by me. Its a shame we couldnt get him but so long as we get and keep out best player fit a firing we should be fine for most matches.

It’s not that many games till January, it would be better to wait and get the right player rather than panic buy now
why would someone be available in Jan who wasn't this window? I can't see much difference in Jan other than less players being sold mid season. I can only see someone like Kim coming in Jan because of the window in China.

It seems that Inter were causing issues and changing the goalposts, fron some ITK feedback.
We can't blame Levy, if he has a budget to adhere to and also had to shift players first, before he could increase any offer.

He still has repayments to make and with the reported £45m-£50m transfer fee for Skriniar, after we had already spent £60m+ this window, that's a significant investment, during a time when most clubs are doing loan deals.

If Inter weren't willing to compromise and they also couldn't get in a replacement, then I am not surprised this was a difficult transfer to conclude now.

Things could be different in 3 months time and maybe there will be other outgoings then. Inter might be more willing to let him leave or reduce the fee.

That's why i'd rather the club saved the money now, than spend any of it on Rodon, who will likely be 5th choice to begin with, IMO.

My only only concern is what if we have two injuries to centrebacks(touchwood)...we would be really stretched...

Dier, Alderweireld, Tanganga, Sanchez, plus Davies can play there.

How many CBs do you expect we'd keep?
