Looks like the club mouthpieces have been sent out to say we are happy with the squad. Any more signings will just be gravy.

Yesterday I posted this:-
Inter are happy to sell him and need the money but they aren't desperate, Spurs have the money and want to buy him but they also aren't desperate. We know they have no other suiters and they know we have an interest in no other CB. This is a deal that suits both clubs so neither is going to pull the chain on it. Basically it's going to happen but each side is angling for the best deal confident that it won't fall through.
That's how I see it.
I still think the same, what is being said today is still in keeping with this.
Milan say "we don't care whether we sell him or not we're not desperate" and Tottenham say "we don't care whether we buy hm or not we're not desperate."

If Foyth goes on loan, we should have exactly the maximum allowed 17 non-HG for the PL.
As that would leave us with 19 non-HG for the EL, I guess we would exclude Gedson and Gazza from the EL squad.

I'd be fine with that though I am not sure the club wants to block Gedson the best competition to get game time as I can not see him getting near some Premier League minutes right now.

Nice work.

It's clearly heading for that pool of amazing footballing talent Burkina Faso.

Honestly, I'd want a player from there just so we can witness the sheer number of ways the blokes on Sky can butcher Ouagadougou.

This is gonna be interesting to see how this pans out in the next few days. Feel like it will be a transfer that’s “on” one minute and “off” the next.

As many have said, we’ve had an absolutely outstanding window as it is, but this really would give us everything we need. Not to say I’ll be angry if it doesn’t come off, but I really hope it does!

100% this. ?we can get this one over the line and then we can just put our feet up and relax and enjoy the show once all our new toys are fit and firing.

I'm not sure a right-back staying or going will affect Mourinho's view of our centre-back situation.

Could mean that Tanganga will be used as back up at CB more than RB... which I like he has shown signs of those defensive instincts you cant teach. A defenders version of great vision Toby and ledley are the only two I have seen for us who you could say truly possessed that previously but Toby is getting slower physically.

I think the one thing that really shows in this window is the suitability of each player.
Jose really seems to ACTUALLY know exactly what kind of players will work in the system(s) he wants to play.

With all due respect, it makes Poch’s targets seem a little bit haphazard. But that might be a little bit revisionist of me, so please don’t neg me about that. I am happy to be proven absolutely wrong. I can’t really remember who we were linked with in Poch’s tenure. Granted Lo Celso and Ndombele, but prior to that, he seemed perhaps a little fraught at identifying players that would fit the system and the clubs transfer policy.

Jose seems to have taken all that in his stride in my opinion. Seems he’s far less picky than one might expect. Or very, very shrewd.

You’d almost think he has done this before...

I would be surprised if this happens. I'm all for it, but think it would have happened a week ago at this point so Inter could have pushed on and got a replacement. The surprising part of the domino chain could have been Aurier potentially staying for this season. I could have easily seen DL paying up a bit more if Tanganga was seen as cover at RB and thus leaving us with only 3 other CBs.

I think what is giving me some hope is that Hitchen was pictured over there, and as it's been mentioned, I don't think it would have happened unless it's close to completion.

i like how people assume every time this plane is in the air its a spurs transfer. Look at its flight history over the past 4 weeks of so. Its been to Germany, Greece, Turkey. Maybe, just maybe, it is used by others and for other purposes.

Sorry I don’t understand what you’re getting at here...?

Ha!

You literally went from end to end of the pessimism / optimism spectrum in the space of one post. Bravo! Even by SC’s schizophrenic standards, that’s some going!

Current stat - very good window
Add Skriniar - absolutely great window
Add a DM - dream window

Mourinho (in his first Chelsea term) said the key best balance of a squad was 22 senior players, 2 international calibre options for each starting position, the utilise the best development prospects to fill the gaps as required.
If you look at where we currently sit (assuming Skriniar joins) we are pretty much at the 2 players per position point, other than I still feel we’re lacking another proper DM who can take control in the space between defence and midfield, one who has the balance of technique and agility without compromising on physicality.
Wanyama and Dembele gave us this previously, and I hope Hojbjerg can grow into that role, but I don’t think we have another player to do that without compromising. Sissoko has the physicality and workrate no doubt, but lacks decision making and technique for me. Winks is the flip side of that coin.
Dream window, add a tough but mobile midfield general who’s comfortable on the ball, so we can free up the likes of Ndombele, Lo Celso and Alli etc to play front foot football, not be shackled by defensive tasks. Winks looked better Sunday with Hojbjerg shouldering the defensive responsibilities, it freed him up to rove around showing for the ball, and visibly look up for forward passes, not uber dynamic, just progressive and smart tactically.
