Can't see how Rudiger is seen as a possible "right deal"
I think he'd be more of a cheap, short term fix on loan rather than a genuine long term solution like Skriniar or Demiral. Seriously doubt we'd actually ever buy Rudiger off Chelsea, or that they'd even sell to us.

I'd be absolutely amazed if they even loaned him to us tbh.

That's why I can't see this deal. We don't need a loan for that position, he isn't better than Dier, Toby and Davinson or even he won't help with HG limits. And he doesn't have a massive potential like Demiral

Yeah - as @yankspurs says it's probably just a bargaining tactic.

That said, I wouldn't rule out the possibility that Mourinho rates Rudiger higher than some of our current CBs.

From Inter's perspective, even though Conte isn't using him much, they might just feel now is not the right time to sell in a deflated market.

I guess this is going to come down to how much the player is determined to come and what discussions he's had with Conte regarding playing time.

If he's still got a decent part to play with them this season they might just be, come the deadline, pay full whack or jog on.

Or we hope they blink, and privately Conte has said he won't be used much and they concede and accept a lower amount.

Tricky to predict really, but certainly don't think we should be expecting this to go through.

Inter fans seem pretty adamant that even if match the fee that we have left it too late as there is a domino chain we are at the end of for this to happen

I cant lie i don't really care if he signs at all.

I think levy, presuming this striker signs has absolutely smashed it this window . I mean if carlsberg did transfer windows smashed it.

A centre half would be sweet but we should have enough. My biggest concern is the lack of a proper dm but I want to and will give holjberg a chance there.

Id welcome this chap of course but I have faith that were OK with Toby, sanchez, dier and tanganga with Davies filling in as a third centre back in a 3 if needed.

First of all if we don't get him we've still had an exceptional window.

But getting a genuine top class CB into our starting XI will turn us into an absolutely fucking quality side, rather than one that can occasionally have a stinker despite being able to beat anyone.

It would be massive.

They probably know about as much about what is going on as we do about our club so I wouldn't put too much store by what they say.

Clearly the next tactic in trying to get Inter to reduce their fee.

The ‘well we’re happy with what we have anyway’ approach

Yes, but at the same time it is also genuine. This guy would improve us, but he's not a necessity like a striker or a DM was.

Meh, if it happens, great! If not, the business we have done this window has been brilliant. We have plugged a lot of gaps in the team.

Yeah, I can’t see us putting this much work in and giving up now without keep trying until deadline day. Understandably they need a replacement in though too.

Don't mean to be negative as we've had an incredible window regardless, but there are no guarantees Skriniar will still be available in Jan/next summer if he regains favour at the club or one of the mega money clubs decide they need a new CB. It was similar with Dybala and Bruno - we had 1 shot at each and never will again.

I just feel that if he's the one we really want this could be our last opportunity.

If it was a choice between Demiral now or Skriniar in January I would go with Demiral. I think the only down side of Demiral is the injury but I don't think there is a huge amount between them otherwise both would be big upgrades. If we cant get either I would wait.

All well and good. And it's great that he's actually prepared to come to Spurs.

But what do we do when we've reached our max offer wise, maybe even offered a little bit more., but they still want more.

Agree, great opportunity, but I'm thinking we've only got a certain amount to spend.

Even opportunistic signings that present themselves will no doubt see us only going to a certain amount regarding the financials.
