Gomez may be big but he's no "master" in the air and slow on the ground; so I rather have a smaller CF who's much quicker and yet got more physical presence.

You obviously have not watch him enough then. He is big and he is good in the air especially when attcking crosses (which would massively beneifit us). He's the closest thing to a Ruud Van Nistlerooy, again a player who was deceptively quick.

He's built for them prem and he's built for us. I'd take him over Torres. He's that good im my opinion.

I gotta say that Gomez is exactly the kind of striker I'd like us to sign, even more so that Suarez.

I'm happy with Defoe and I think he's been somewhat forgotten about this season due to his lack of games after injury and suspension so with either JD partnering Gomez or VDV playing off him, I think it could work perfectly and arguably give us more than putting Suarez in there.

Generally I'm not fussy though, I just think we need a clinical finisher and both LS and MG seem to fit that bill.

No, I do not watch a lots of Bundesliga but from the little I have watched I am not that impressed - even less so by what he did at the WC.
Bayern play a diferent football than Spurs though, as they dominate more games than Spurs, so his speed is not such a big deal but at Spurs he'll have to work differently so his lack of pace will be exposed. And he's had a hard time becoming a regular at Bayern, with Olic keeping him out of the team.
I'd still take him over Crouch and Pav though

Gomez was pants last season/start of this season.

However, the past 3-4 months he's been in outstanding form. 18 goals in 14 games ... not the sign of an under performing striker is it?

As for Olic, he's only started 4 games this season.

Gomez wants to stay, Olic has been injured for most of the season. I'ts Klose that wants to leave.

Gomez is brilliant and is starting to show the form he showed at Stuttgart. Just finished writing an article on him actually. With Klose and Olic both early 30s and Gomez starting to bang them in, it's a definite no-go. Even if they would sell i would expect them to want most of the 30 million euros they paid for him.

As said though, he has the right build for the prem. Tall and powerful and he is quickish across the ground. Good in the air as well.

Well, as I said you might have to watch a little more as this guy is the dog's danglies. He isn't been kept out of the side by Olic. Its the other way around. Correct me if I am wrong but he has something like 13 goals in the last 15 games (14 of which he has started/since the begining of november). He is bigger, stronger and faster than all our forwards with the exception of Defoe having more acceleration. He is certainly not slow.

He would be up there with Rooney and Drogba in the PL. You know Rooney? The one that had that great world cup:wink:

Actually I used to watch a lots of European game and follow other leagues keenly but must admit I haven't seen many games apart from Spurs this season.
Catching up now though
That he is stronger and faster than Crouch, Pav, Keane I have no doubts about...as that doesn't take much. But he's no speedster, nor a "monster" in the air for his size. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't consider him.
Oh Rooney....hmmm....hardly noticed he played this WC, as opposed to Klose, Gyan and Forlan...

Gomez, 25, is being tracked by Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Juventus following a difficult start to the Bundesliga campaign with Bayern Munchen having onlu recently broken into the first-team following an injury to Miroslav Klose.

More likely, broken into the first team because Klose is shite these days.

As DP demonstrated, 'brilliant' for Germany in the WC means having the same sort of record as some Slovak bloke who plays for a bunch of Turkish deadbeats.

That bag of toss Podolski looks good for Germany.

1) he's faster than crouch, pavs or keane (now)

2) there is a difference between speed and first step. Gomez is brilliant off that first step. Speed wins races at distance, first step wins them in small areas....say the box. You don't need but a step when it's a two foot race. This is why he has been so good. Get's the first step and finishes. Don't knock it.

Don't think he's coming mind you. Just think speed is seen as Bale/Lennon or nothing. It has nuances.

How do you know v.d. Vaart is faster than Crouch, Pav and Keane? Have you timed them personally or is there a stat somewhere?
Personally all 3 clearly appears to be faster than v.d. Vaart...

I don't have a clue. I was speaking of Gomez. Sorry.
