Interest confirmed in Gomez

Sport.co.uk understands that Bayern Munich forward Mario Gomez is attracting interest from top European clubs ahead of the January transfer window with the player’s representative expecting enquiries for the striker.

Gomez, 25, is being tracked by Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Juventus following a difficult start to the Bundesliga campaign with Bayern Munchen having onlu recently broken into the first-team following an injury to Miroslav Klose.

The German international is highly regarded as one of Europe’s most prolific marksman following his 35 million euro move from Stuttgart to Bayern Munich in 2009. Despite recently being given more game time by boss Louis van Gaal Gomez is being monitored closely by the aforementioned trio, but despite interest there has been no formal offers. However the player’s agent does intimate that it is still early to talk about transfer gossip.

Oliver Mintzlaff told Sport.co.uk: “Mario Gomez is one of the best strikers in Europe, the best German striker, and the best in the Bundesliga. There is no concrete interest, but it is early, we expect interest. But even with Mario at the moment, it is quiet.”

He would be an absolutely perfect addition to the squad. he can head the ball, hold up play, score with both feet, has skill on the ball. I guess what im saying is he is pretty much a Berbatov

Can't see Bayern selling him now. Since Olic and Klose have been injured (and Mueller going through a bit of a goal drought) he's been their main striker and main goalscorer. Olic and Klose are getting older anyway so even if/when they buy a new striker it will be to complement Gomez (and Mueller) and probably not replace him.

Is he only 25? I thought he was about 30 so I was initially not too keen on the thought of signing him, but if he's 25 and there's even a small chance he would come to us then yes, please, go for it Levy!

Would be the perfect player to sit in front of vdV feeding off all our great service - reckon he could do what Clive Allen did in 86/7.

Sadly i have to agree with this

Every transfer rumour I see on us these days involves Liverpool too.

Not a hope in hell's chance of getting him. He has been one of the few shining lights for Bayern Munich this season and cannot for the life of me see them selling him to anyone!!!

He'll be down to 2 years on his contract come summer. I would think that this is his agent trying to get a new deal while he's on a hot streak.

Him or Llorente... either would make us a title contender. Have always rated this guy but now that he's found his Stuttgart form Bayern will not even entertain the thought of selling and besdies we can't afford the wages. Nice to dream.....

Gomez would be a superb signing...Although judging from his form this season, sadly I think we've got two hopes of signing him

Would love to see Gomez at the Lane, Makoun I haven't seen much of but he's a beast on FIFA and FM ... :shifty:

Gomez may be big but he's no "master" in the air and slow on the ground; so I rather have a smaller CF who's much quicker and yet got more physical presence.
