Hojbjerg is unwanted and is essentially being pushed to move on this month and yet he showed so much more intent and bravery than Johnson. PEH is a true professional and just a warrior.

Brennan has qualities and he will improve but he has to be more willing to get stuck in. Whether it’s a challenge, getting back to defend or taking on his man, he is too often only giving 95%

Vicario,Porro,Romero,VDV,Udogie,Bentancur,Sarr,Maddison,Son,Richy,Kulu.

We go 2/3-0 up and then can bring on:
•Emerson,Dragusin,Davies to help see out a game or rest the 1st choice defence
•Bissouma,Lo Celso,PEH to keep up the intensity or give us something different
•Werner,Solomon,Johnson,Gil,Veliz to run at tired opposition legs

No they didn't cost us any goals and they didn't get overrun or lose the midfield battle.

But I think it's a game we win if we had alternative options on the pitch.

Maybe I'm being too harsh, but for me we win that game if even one of Sarr, Bissouma or Madders is playing.

I don't disagree with the notion if just one of Kulu or Maddison in would have made the difference. But for me, my problem is it's people who can't credit them without adding a negative comment after.

Eh? Our midfield was in top nearly all game.

I do agree they are a downgrade on our usual midfield, but let's face it, most of us feared the worst when they started, yet both were solid. As for Skipp he actually did quite a few nice passes laying off for richarlison and Johnson multiple times.

Maybe I am just different then. Because we all know they're not going to be here long term, so why keep saying they're not the level we aspire to be? It's pointless and redundant.

Me saying they were good today doesn't automatically mean I want them as starters or even here in the squad in the future. They had decent game. It's just that. Nothing more, nothing less.

we must of, skipp looked lost to me, I think if mctominay buried that last chance the tone would of been different, he did nothing bar one good ball

It was weird as the better of Skipp’s forward passes ended in Werner missing in the first half, the move out wide for Werner’s assist (Bentancur goal) not so good. Thought Werner did well to shift the play back.

It’s probably easier to implement that in a weaker league with the best players.

True but they also played like that in the Champions League, incredibly away to Real Madrid for example and played us off the park over 2 legs etc.

Really good performance in difficult circumstances. Both CBs short of match fitness, hardly a CM available for the team and no back up forwards bar Bryan Gil. I thought Skipp and Bentancur were very good and Pierre was frustrating- the amount of times he ceded possession could have cost us dear on another day and his propensity to go backwards is so very annoying. Both Skippy and Bents want to take the team forward at every opportunity. Richy was excellent as well, good movement and won the ball loads with (bar one in the second half) safe passing throughout. Werner was clearly a bit unfit but he still got an assist for Bentancur's goal and he kept United honest at the back. Johnson needs to improve his final ball. The back four were very good and although Porro struggled v Rashford in the first half he had him tamed in the second. I wanted us to win but to take a point there and maintain the eight point gap between us and them is massive too. Well done Ange and the boys!

He didn't have a great game for sure but there are plenty of other words you can use, for example, dreadful, awful or poor.

'Shocking' isn't the word. At all. Unless of course he's been so brilliant recently that today's performance was disgustingly bad in contrast.

Gill did more in his 10 minute cameo than BJ did for most of the game. I'm don't dislike Johnson, he's played some good games for us and I understand that he's young and learning, but he played a stinker today

Fair mate. So would you start Gil against City over Johnson… I’d still rather start Johnson for his pace and stretching teams personally, but agree not his best game today.
