My worry with bringing in a new manager is that it is a “clean slate” for some of our players that really need to leave regardless and some may think they can turn it around and come in from the cold, they can’t (and shouldn’t) they are not good enough... Winks, Sissoko, Doherty, Aurier, all our CBs apart from Rodon.
That is exactly what I think. It is a fucking trap whatever happens. Mou leaves (much needed) and we get another manager, hopefully a fresh start but some deadwood will be given a chance. Jose stays and probably (we don't even know if it will happen) deadwood will be shifted, but JOSE STAYS. That says it all.

Mate your post was good but seriously that was a standout.

I could have worded it better, of course I'd like to see Spurs win domestic trophies but in the grand scheme of things I don't think they're that important for the future of our club. We just built a new stadium, we're looking for naming rights and I think we need to be in the most elite competition so when it pertains for what Jose was brought to the club to do when I say I don't care about domestic trophies I mean relative to the importance that I put on getting top4.

I also don't believe that domestic trophies are a good barometer of the direction a club is heading. For example Arsenal have won a few and yeah, I'm sure it feels good when you win them but year on year they have gotten worse since they won that first one after their barren spell. I think sometimes a domestic trophy can paper over the cracks. If we win the league cup this season I'll be very happy for the players in that moment but I don't think it justifies the season up until this point.

I think in future I don't want to see appointments based on what coaches have won or if they are simply the next big thing.

They have to have a style and strategy that matches the club's direction. Much like the way Ajax appoint coaches who are very technical. Our coaches need to be brave and attack teams, encouraging players to play on the front foot with high energy.

It's why Santini, Ramos, AVB and now Jose have flopped, they dont fit.

It's why Poch, Redknapp and Jol did well (despite a lack of success in their past) because they suited the club/fans ethos.

It's why Nagelsmann may be the ideal pick.

And why im starting to go off the idea of Allegri.
And also managers that can manage modern day players. And we as a club should be recruiting players through a thorough vetting process.

This makes more sense however in my view winning trophies is a good habit to have, but I do understand the need for CL income especially the way our club is run.

I agree with this. Although the argument against this(and what those who supported the Mourinho appointment were spouting) has always been that we need a manager with a winning history to win things. The others are just project managers who don’t win things and therefore mean we have a lack of ambition.

You'd assume that part of the application/interview process would be a discussion of the squad's strengths and areas for improvement though, right? I mean, I'd expect Sissoko, Foyth, Gazzaniga, CCV, Rose at a minimum to be out of the door whatever happens.

I'll be interested to see how it's disputed for that Jose isn't throwing players under the bus now, it seems he has been caught in a huge lie and yeah I'm interested to see how this will be spun. We saw that Lloris do 1 interview was enough for people to rally behind Jose so let's see what happens here.
There's been some blowback already, the Daily Hate Mail have tweeted about it along with the Evening Standard article. The Mail are saying the club has been left 'baffled'.

How that's different to our usual modus operandi, I struggle to see.

Im not the usual "mourinho out"-guy. If he delivers im totally fine with him being our manager.
We can all see that several of our players are not good enough and needs to be shifted and replaced come summer.
But the thing that does my head in is the horrible tactics and team selection we are witnessing.
If its true, like harry og hugo said, that Jose havent told them to stay back then its a squad problem (like mentioned above).
But the selections is all Jose. Why on earth didnt he sub Sanchez at half time yesterday? He was dreadfull. And why on earth does he continue to pick him? He has cost us lots of goals/points this season.
