I think fundamentally the issue is ENIC have failed to put a continuous system in place.

Under Arnesen and Jol they spoke a lot about playing 433 at all levels and put focus onto technical ball players. Essentially they wanted to turn us into the classic Dutch team.

Once Arnesen left he was replaced with a DOF who bought high quality players, often young, with little sense of how the team would function.

Since then the buying has been all over the place. Ramos to Redknapp to AVB to Poch to Jose. The current squad didn't appear to have the qualities that Poch liked and now we have a completely different style of manager.

I don't think any manager could really come in right now and solve this.

The buying plan has to be right. At the moment a Redknapp buying style of "fill the gaps" is definitely required. Hopefully Jose is in constant contact with the board to let them know what he needs to turn this lot into a team.

But another management change isn't what we should be focusing on right now.
What scares me is the thought that DL has run out of ideas and a cohesive p!an to take the club forward. If he sees Jose as a project and is prepared to give him time and (allowing for club finances) money to spend them all well and good but if it is literally him having a punt on Jose then that is a concern.

Might seem knee jerk, but some matches can dramatically change your opinion on a player or manager. This was one of them for me.

That first half was utterly inexcusable. Full squad bar Alli available against the second/third worst team in the division who've lost 6 in a row and we've set up to contain and soak up the pressure. The worst thing was there was no hint of a counter attack or making positive movements into dangerous positions. Why were we so timid and afraid to get up the pitch? You'd think the teams positions in the table were flipped. Even so, in the second half we still couldn't muster a shot on target as Moura bumbled away promising situations.

We're realistically a top 6/7 side with some glaring weaknesses made worse by poor team selection, but these players are capable of far better than what they've shown in the last 3 matches.

This wasn't quite the Brighton away under Poch in terms of being sure he has to go, but it's possibly the Bayern at home where the doubt really starts to creep in.

For me, he's got the last 4 games to have us playing better or we've got to consider ripping everything up and starting again.

It's well known that Pogba was a Club signing forced on Mourinho.

Ibra yes, Matic yes both he knew already, the other 3 are not very good imo. So 2 good players in 3 years, plus how much spent?

Well if you're going to say that, then we'd have to know if the failure signings were done by Jose or by the club.

Mabye we should all call it a day until
He’s gone. He’s killing any joy of supporting spurs.
I'd always stick with it. Thirty years of following Spurs has to make one patient. If there's a method to this and DL is backing him and working with him then that's fine but if he literally appointed him with the expectation of trophies with no financial backing then yes, he might as well go.

Worrying comment from my brother (United fan)

Said the United squad got really unfit during Jose's time and he killed motivation in a lot of players.

I don't know if that's down to training methods or if his players just lose desire.. but concerning as If never really thought about it before.

Pretty much where I am.

Levy's style worked perfectly to take us from mid table to 5th. With the increased turnover we could attract higher quality players without spending out of our budget. This combined with Arsenal, Liverpool and Utd having a few seasons of intermittently being a bit shit allowed us to get into the top four.

But there just doesn't appear to be a real plan in place or any continuity. Levy can continue to be in charge of financial aspects but I think it's time for someone new at the helm.

Right now to stop this turgid shit I’d take any of:
Chris Wilder
Nuno Espirito Santo
Ten Haag
Nagglesman
Simione Inzaghhi
Graham Potter

And if none of them fancy it then :
Robbie Keane and Jonathan Woodgate with Tim Sherwood DofF ?

god I really just don’t care anymore
We should just wait for Nagglesman and levy can save his transfer pocket money until he's willing to come. Unless we look like going down. As others have said, unless Levy pays I don't see us going anywhere above mid table.

It's also worth noting that there is only 1 month between the last game of this season and next, there is no way the likes of Max Aaronos and hojbjerg are going to have a big enough impact. As bad as things are now, unless Levy sanction a revolution (which he wouldn't even without covid) I don't see how anything changes between now and then.

No there won't be.
This season ends for us on 26th July.
They are working towards a 12th September restart, that is 7 weeks, with transfer window open until end of September

Sadly that was always the criticism aimed at Poch and the reason why we can't consider ourselves an elite club like others around us - because we hadn't won anything under Poch and really, very little in the last 30 years. I know that for some, trophies are not important and given our very small haul in recent history, I would dearly love to adopt that philosophy but I can't.

I wonder if Lewis would at any point think about this. At some point one has to assume as a business model we can be improved upon and Levy isn't the man to do it any longer. Then again I guess unless Lewis is willing to put more funds into the club then is the point moot as whoever is in charge would have to work with the same remit.

Is your brother employed at the club, or is it one of those confirmation bias things?

Fair enough, I just read a new article from a few hours ago saying it was looking like Saturday August 29. Good thing it's September
