Good shit.He ran towards the fans, took off his shirt to reveal a Spurs shirt underneath, then kissed the badge
On the second goal, he pulled out a pez despenser, shaped like AVB. He took a candy and winked at the camera. He ran towards the fans, took off his shirt to reveal a Spurs shirt underneath, then kissed the badge
He's 26 now; and 27 mid way through the Summer transfer window... How many more windows will we potentially chase him for due to this fact?
He's hitting a stick or twist moment in his career where he needs to either jump ship or be priced out of a move. I think he needs to remember this.
Because the older he gets the less likely Levy is to break our record transfer fee for him.
Alongside the prior points is the fact that with guaranteed CL every year; Porto aren't in a position where they would need to ever sell him cheap.
The ship is sailing (possibly sailed)

Hmm, he's undoubtedly a good player, and as close to a Modric replacement as we're going to get, but if we were to buy him and only him this window, I'm not sure how good an idea a midfield three of him Sandro and Dembele would be. Bale, Lennon and Defoe would have to score an awful lot of goals as there's not many in that midfield.
With a midfield of Moutinho, Dembele, and Sandro, I'm pretty sure our forwards would score a lot more goals. Moutinho would not only create more chances (whether directly or by setting up the assist), but they would be a higher quality of chances.

But we need a bloody finisher too.
Bit harsh on JD - he's done well this term! We can't all have RVP-esque finishers and JD's playing really well. He's direct, strong and when things go his way scoring and finishing well.
I really feel like he's improved massively - still remember him simply smashing the ball as hard as he could in front of goal a few seasons ago when berbatov, keane and pav were up front and he was fighting for a place but recently his finishes have been cool (chips, power, nutmegs)
He was unlucky not to have scored against QPR and was a Cesar finger-tip save away from another excellent strike.
I agree though that we're a little too reliant on him and with Ade not firing on all cylinders, a top quality alternative to come in / off the bench would be excellent in our quest for 4th.
With a bigger cock I'm pretty sure I would appeal more to the ladies but unfortunately that ain't going to happen either.
You need to work on your technique then

I hear people arguing that by adding another central midfielder we're gonna have less goals as we're taking away one of the 4 attackers. Let's be honest, our attack sucks right now anyway. I don't think it's gonna make a blind bit of difference on that front! Sometimes we're pedestrian up front and can't create chances to finish (QPR). Other times we're having dozens of shots and not getting anything in (Reading). That's with having 4 bloody strikers!
An extra CM is going to help with the chances sure, and I'm all for it. But we need a bloody finisher too.
Well, if you have a look at the stats, we have scored the fifth most goals in the PL (39). Only ManU has scored significantly more (56). Chelsea, ManC, and Arse have netted 43, 43, and 40, pretty comparable to us. So, our attack really does not suck. It's actually rather good.
I also believe that only Man Utd have scored more away goals than us this season? Don't know why I'm saying that though? I actually agree with Syn_13, and think our attack sucks.. Afterall, over 30 attempts on target in multiple games this season, yet I don't think we've scored more than 4 goals in any given fixture? Look at the game against Villa, over 20 corners in the 1st half alone, over 20 attempts on target too, yet at half-time it was 0-0. The game ended with, I think, 34 attempts on target? We HAVE scored a decent amount of goals, but bloody hell it SHOULD be significantly more!!
Just one 'class' striker would see us sitting comfortably in 3rd at least, in my opinion.
This is pretty much what I mean. Yes, we're not bad, we could be a lot worse. And ok, perhaps "sucks" is a bit too hard. I am known for extreme exaggeration at times (my wife's still bitter about that one!). But what I meant to say is that it should be a hell of a lot better. The amount of chances we seem to create at times is ridiculous considering how few goals come out of them. If we had a clinical finisher up front then we could be talking about battling for 2nd rather than 4th.
Right now we have Ade, who can't score for toffee and seems to be as deadly as Peter Crouch in front of goal and Defoe, who just hogs the ball and smashes it goalwards in an almost hit'n'hope way. A good, intelligent striker will make clever runs to pull defenders away for mids/other strikers to come in and exploit, play off defenders' shoulders to get in goalscoring positions, not be afraid to lay the ball off for others, and has good composure in front of goal. We don't have that combination in one player alone, just players who do 1 or 2 of those things.
Anyway, I just noticed this is a Moutinho thread, not a striker one! Went off a tangent there...
