Nope. I made it from watching the preseason games in the States and these two games.

I was at the Watford friendly and it was a little depressing tbh.

We aren't incisive enough and need to get there quickly.

I saw better from the youth squad at Kingston FC.
Then perhaps you should restrict yourself to them. Either that or gain some insight as to what a pre-season game is for. Winning is not the primary objective.

No, I think thats part of the problem. He wont get it.

We have made our bed now and we should lie in it.

From Levy's view he has appointed this man as manager so he should have 100% faith in him to do a good job...if the fans get on his back and he's gone in 6 months what does that tell you?

Its bullshit to be perfectly honest...the exact same thing happended with Ramos.

We need stability, we need to create something bigger than making top four for a couple of seasons and the only way we are going to do it is if a competent manager gets appointed and ingrains his philosophy and personality on the club a la ferguson or Wenger...with Levy there I wonder will this ever happen?

Must admit I disagree with the "look at the success Wenger and Ferguson have had, we need someone just like them!". Do you know how many Wengers and how many fergies there are? One Wenger, one fergie. A stable top quality manager is the rarest thing in football.

Congratulations on your full-blooded support of your club.

I support the club, not the manager.

Apologies for having to put it so bluntly, but have you had an irony-bypass or something? You're having a pop at armchair managers while lauding the OP's armchair management opinion?

As stated football is a simple game over complicated by arm chair managers.

Lack of evidence is not evidence of lack.

My opinion on it, what the is yours?

Until recently I would have agreed with you, but then I found out from a secret source that Daniel Levy didn't decide the dates of the transfer window. I know, I know. It was a shock to me too. I'll give you a minute or two to digest that.

Ummm he was aware of them I believe, or is the importance of not having key players in place and the team ready to go when we started playing not a relevant issue?

Sorry are we talking about the same person here? I was under the impression that we were talking about the manager who thought a point was good enough at Villa last season, and subsequently finished fourth and then were robbed of our CL place. I thought we talking about the same manager who kept mouthing off to the press. The same manager who decided to hire the utterly reprehensible Paul Stretford to negotiate for him in the week that Daniel Levy was bereaved of his mother. The same manager who seemed to lose all interest after being linked with England.

That is your reasoning for our 4th placed finish? Who got us that near in the first place? If it wasn't for the WBA keeper throwing the ball into his own net on the last day of the season then we may have got third. Then again if we had just spent a tiny bit more in January, maybe some cover for Lennon, then it might have been enough to make the point moot.

Top 4 finish, exciting football, European adventure, happen every season for us Spurs fans right?

I wont debate matters such as his contract negotiations as I am unaware of the facts, save to say why let such a successful manager get to the final year of his contract anyway?

Lost all interest after England link? We continued to play attractive attacking football throughout that period and gods knows how we didn't continue getting the points we deserved? Norwich was the only bad team performance.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Not 6th to 8th. Whatever will we do??? This is the last chance we have to finish in the top four. After that, anyone who finishes below fifth will miss out on the chance to get aboard the space ship that they're building to fly to Mars and play in the Marvin Super-League, exclusively for the clubs with the big dicks. No small willie clubs will be allowed in. That'll learn you, you morons who insist on supporting your manager!

What will we do? Well we have had so many years in the past of mid table mediocrity I am sure you will remember in time!

You are really up yourself aren't you Rez?

What is ironic is that you have seemingly unwavering support for the manager and the chairman, yet you know damn well that if we lose the next four/five games that Levy will be thinking the same thing and you'll be forced to have a good think about who to support if Levy has to act.

All I am doing in this thread is questioning the populus of SC in a respectable manner but you insist on tearing in here with your shouty shouty bollocks waving your cock about.

Take yourself outside and cool off.

So, two games in and none won, yet we are 1 point up on last seasons opening two.

Trouble is, last seasons openers were against the eventual champs and runner-up.

I can't help but be exasperated by our defending at the moment and how we seem to be so nervous and unable to score despite having so much of the ball.

I'm almost saying AVB out in fact - he doesn't seem to have the ability to create the necessary drive so far and think he might have bitten off more than he can chew with so much to prove.

How long will you wait before you start calling for his head? Or am I knee-jerking?

When WBA pulled one back in the 90th minute I started making a Voodoo-doll of AVB. This week coming up to the Norwich game I will insert two needles into it per day, and if we lose to Norwich I will behead it.

This is exactly how we played under the previous manager. Very rushed very gung ho, the only problem is that teams weren't expecting it, now they know better. This is a process and only the second game of the season so we can't start panicking as we've not settled on a starting XI and are still in the settling in Period. If we were going for the title I'd be going nuts as you can't drop points but our goal is 4th, Newcastle will drop points, so will Arsenal and Liverpool. We're far from crisis mode.

Do you not think we were capable of finishing third?

He's got three years for me. If we are not in the top 4 by May 2015 then we might need to look elsewhere.

We were on course till we started believing our hype and started dropping points. We have to be realistic, to get 3rd or higher we're gonna need some luck again and to be honest I really see the likes of United, City and Chelsea separating from the rest as the season progresses. This is based on last year and not this season.

And exactly what has that to do with anything? Or have you managed to invent time-travel?

You are really up yourself aren't you Rez?
No, because 1) it's physically impossible; and 2) my brain would overheat to the extent that I too may end up calling for our manager to be sacked after only two competitive games in charge. Is that what happened to you? Did you erm... how does one put it... ascend yourself?. Hopefully, you've got people around to help you... descend.

Firstly, I don't have a massive sense of entitlement. I don't believe that we have a God-given right to finish in the top four this, or any, season.

Additionally, as we've just lost a manager, I would think it good sense to actually wait a little while and see what the situation is before handing out judgement. You see, I don't think that I'm an authority. I don't believe that I know more than the chairman of our club or the coaches or even the players (some of whom are hardly the sharpest spoons in the drawer).

You are (and I have to blunt here) essentially 'throwing a paddy'. Now, that's OK. We're all entitled to our little tantrums now and again. But you're doing it from a place in which you believe you know better and where you know everyone's motivations and actions.

Because of what happened at Chelsea, AVB is bad. Because we never finish our business before the season starts, then Levy's a bad chairman. And once you make your mind up, you stick to your dogma like glue. Whereas someone with an open mind doesn't stick to their position. A wise man is one who will take up his position based on the situation presented to him - not one that he has built up in his own mind.

Therefore, as of today, with only two games played, I would suggest is too early to call time on a manager, for all sorts of reasons. If in a few games time, there is no improvement, in truth, I'll still be putting my faith in the manager. But if as the season progresses I see no improvement, then I will perhaps begin asking questions. Unlike you, I won't make statements for which I have no proof nor have sufficient knowledge. But I may change my position. That's what a normal person does and contrary to what you may think, there is no shame in it.

Nor is there kudos in being right. But, I'm sure if you ask nicely enough, we could arrange a medal-giving ceremony with an 'AllSeeingEye was Right' party thrown in. Is that what your beef is? All you need to do is ask.

Your manner is anything but respectable. By opening a thread that is either a) stupid to the point of lunacy; b) assured to inflame; or c) both, you have demonstrated nothing but contempt for the forum and the intelligence of the people who use it.

The 'shouty shouty bollocks' you so charmingly refer to was my (albeit amateur) attempt at satire. It was meant to highlight the risibility and ridiculousness of your thread. My apologies if the humour was too subtle for you.

Finally, I would respectfully suggest that perhaps I'm not the one who needs to cool off, seeing as I've not opened the thread in which two posters have quite prominently implied that we sack our manager after only two competitive games and then tried to defend under the pretence of trying to start a debate.

I don't believe that we have a God-given right to finish in the top four this, or any, season.

And what exactly is the point of having a football league Rez?

Is it just to hang around between relegation and the top four for all eternity?

We're supposed to try and win it from time to time aren't we?

What more proof do I need at this stage to be worried that we can achieve anything this season than what I've witnessed in friendlies and two supposedly competitive games?

I don't see the point in bringing in a manager who can't get it right from the start when we already had a manager capable of maintaining European place amibitions.

I hardly threw a "paddy", but perhaps I have been judged to have been knee-jerky - I acknowledge that much.

The thread question was more a case of "this is where I'm at right now where are you guys?" not "AVB is a ****, and you lot are all ****s as well, please start flaming me and anyone who agrees with me".

Sadly a lot of people on here have gone for option two.

I think you will find most people are giving avb time. Levy on the other hand has us in this position time and time again. Also, I would question his ambition to the cause. We are/were so close. Again

How is not showing ambition?

How many times do people have to be told that the primary consideration has to be to look after the club's long-term future. I cannot believe that there are people who would rather we rack up unsustainable levels of debts in the name of 'showing ambition'.
