So, two games in and none won, yet we are 1 point up on last seasons opening two.

Trouble is, last seasons openers were against the eventual champs and runner-up.

I can't help but be exasperated by our defending at the moment and how we seem to be so nervous and unable to score despite having so much of the ball.

I'm almost saying AVB out in fact - he doesn't seem to have the ability to create the necessary drive so far and think he might have bitten off more than he can chew with so much to prove.

How long will you wait before you start calling for his head? Or am I knee-jerking?

I think he made some errors of judgement over how to line up against a team that was there for the taking in the first 60 mins and then in the ascendency.

We need motivation and tactics that work. We don't need to be throwing the first two games away as if they aren't important.

It takes time, give him that. We are not Chelsea fans ffs, these problems were here last season and without Modric, Parker, and a fit Adebayor it was always going to be more difficult but at least the system is taking shape.

Its a crap shoot at this stage.

Could go either way. Bottom line is AVB is pretty much completely unproven.

Far to early to make decisions. Needs at least two seasons but I do feel very very nervous for him I must say.

Yep, AVB out now, or we'll be relegated to the Conference North. This is the worst period the club has seen in my lifetime, and I'm going to organise a public season-ticket burning outside Tavistock Group's HQ for Tuesday evening. I'm also consulting a lawyer to see what charges I may be able to file against Daniel Levy for the emotional distress.

...at least the system is taking shape.

Eh? Why do we need a system? We had a system that worked fine before we just needed a little extra oomph and tactical nous. I don't understand what is so difficult about this. Every season is a new one and a fresh start. Why can't Levy and co get us the staff we need to make a real impression from the get go.

As soon as you start letting the odd game slip then other teams don't respect you and start giving you a beating. We needed to start well. These games are the difference between a Champions league place and a Europa league place.

We aren't Chelsea fans but then again it wasn't the fans that gave him the heave-ho it was Abramovich. Do you think AVB would have delivered two trophies to the Blues last year at our expense?

It's early but I'm calling it as I see it.

And people wonder why other fans call us fickle. Give the man time for fucks sake. Yes its disappointing but we're hardly ruined are we. We're actually playing alright football. It takes time for things to stick. The last thing we need is the media to pick up on the fact that some fans are already starting to get on his back. Fuck me, we really are masters of our own downfall arent we.

Do we not have the banging one's head against the wall icon anymore?

Actually thinking about, that may be a good thing, because the amount of time I'd use it on this thread would probably wear it out.

Not very long if I'm being honest (not many on here will admit how fickle they are). Avb failed at chavski so he has a short window to prove that he can cut it in the premier league in my eyes.

Edit: didn't read the thread in its entirety. Stupid to call for his head now. If we are still winless after 5, ask me again.

This thread has actually made me embarrassed to be a spurs fan. This is the sort of rubbish you expect to be spouted by football no-marks like chavski fans. A sad day in the nialsy household.

Do you honestly expect him to get two seasons?

Jesus Christ, what a knee jerk, he's had 2 games, 2 games we could of on another day won. You need to give him time, I'll give him at least another fortnight, if, we're not playing like Barca by then, he can piss off with his 'project', I'm a fair man.

If this type of thread makes you embarrassed to be a spurs fan then I can only guess that you just signed up to sc, and have never been on glory glory ;)

Absolutely agree with that. That's not AVB's fault.

Part of the tactical problem of last season imo was that we didn't have a system. Harry just told the players to go run around a bit and that cost us a lot of points. Players didn't know what their roles were, especially in regards to pressing or falling back.

At least now we seem to be improving on putting pressure on the other team, in the second half we reverted to some bad habits from last season but we'll get better. We do need to get better at penetrating and off the ball runs. That will come imo. But we absolutely need a Modric replacement, striker, and GK and Levy should provide that or else I'll be pissed off.
