It never ceases to amaze me how so many people can't understand that Son is our first backup to Kane.

I’d still maintain with a 25 man squad we are 3 away from being very solid:
Llorente upgrade
Nkoudou upgrade( as 6th choice AM young promising English be fine)
Wanyama upgrade- even if regains fitness we don’t need Dier winks wanyama Skipp we need a more attacking CM.

And 5 from being serious title contenders:

Moura/lamela- Upgrade one with proven top quality.
Trippier/Aurier- upgrade one or possibly sell both.

The situation is nowhere near as drastic as some are making out. 5 quality in and we are proper contenders. And only 2 of those are likely starters. Suddenly matchday squad looks very different.

I'm also consistently bemused by this. Whether "we" like it or not, Poch rates these guys, Dier in particular.

I think this is what we can realistically expect to see over the next couple of windows:

Lloris/Gazzaniga
Trippier/Aurier/KWP (sell one)
Alderweireld/Sanchez/Vertonghen/Foyth
Rose/Davies
Winks/Sissoko/Dier/Wanyama/Skipp (sell Wanyama and replace with a quality CM)
Eriksen/Dele/Son/Lamela/Lucas
Kane/Llorente (sell Llorente)

If Alderweireld goes, replace with a young CB (preferably naturally left sided).
If Eriksen goes, replace with a player similar to Son.

I would sooner replace Llorente with a player similar to Son, and replace Eriksen with a player similar to Eriksen. Then buy another young player similar to Eriksen.

If Toby goes would it be better to drop Dier back to what is probably his more natural position in defence, and put the money into a top class CM which is what we are really short of.
If Wanyama had been fully fit for last 2 seasons Dier would not have been first choice as Wanyama was bought to take his place.
We certainly need to sell a right back as KWP will take a squad place next season. Don’t need 3 of them .
