Just seen an interview on Sky Sports with Harry who confirmed that Woody played in a practice match yesterday and Ledley also played 40 mins which he is obviously well pleased with.

Slightly worrying though was that he mentioned he isn't sure what to do about Wilson who plays on Thursday morning and doesn't get back from Honduras until Friday afternoon and the last time this happened was against Man U where he was knackered.

That's obviously terrible news for the weekend.

He did also say that the rumours about Muntari were not true and said how there is no truth in the Pav to Zenit stories.

guess we will see the jenas and hudd disaster in full effect!

BTW is O'hara ineligible due to the loan? Boateng is gonna be well up for it I reckon.

Not too fussed tbh. They will be missing O'Hara, and i expect Jenas and Huddlestone to be good enough against Portsmouth. I think its best to put him on the bench and call on him if we need to hold on near the end.

Yeah O'Hara is ruled out but KPB is ok for the game, however I am not going to lose any sleep over it as I never saw him as better than average.

Not an issue IMO. They will be without JOH, Hudd & Jenas will be fully acceptable in the middle of the park.

o'Hara is ineligible but hopefully thudd and jenas perform against a poor pompey team...

also hopefully JD will be back and scoring goals for fun, then running the length of the pitch to celebrate

He normally denies interest in a player shortly before he signs them. Welcome to the Lane Mr Muntari. Perhaps you can cover for Wilson after those long-haul flights.

I'd leave him out personally. Shame we dont have Jamie, it'd be a good game for him.

WP was pants against Manure, so I think a rested and fully fit pairing of Hudd and Jenas would be better against Pompey, enabling WP to have a rest before we play Stoke, Everton and Arsenal within 7 days.

The real spanner in the works is if Kranjcar is out - heard on the radio this morning he is doubtful for Croatia tonight so fingers crossed he is ok for Saturday. A midfield of:

Lennon -- Hudd -- JJ -- Keane

is just asking for trouble in my opinion. Almost everyone giving the ball away and nobody putting the boot in to win it back!

I think this again highlights how short we are in the area of DMF - when Wilson is out, it just does not look like the same team - alright so Pompy are not at there best, but they won last time out and are at home, and DO expect them to be up for this one!

However back to Wilson, what if this was the ARSE game, or even Villa or Everton - We are still short in DMF and I would welcome a player like Muntari in january!

lennon - Jenas - Hudd - kranjcar  certainly is no

lennon - Palacios - Modric - Kranjcar

My understanding is Wilson's game this evening is in San Salvador at 6pm, to be exact, meaning that he can easily fly out tomorrow on Taca's earlier flights to Miami or New York so as to catch connecting flights to the UK Thursday night at the latest.

Bit tiring maybe but it comes with the territory of being a great player and earning huge amounts of money.

Agreed, but I think we have seen for his last performance after WCC he couldn't cut it - i suspect he will be on the bench...........

Hi Guate. I'm assuming 6pm is San Salvador local time which would be the equivalent of playing at 1 am over here. Thats a big catch up or am I totally wrong ?

I think Wilson should be rested for the Portsmouth game, Thudd and JJ should be able to cope well enough.

As for the left side if Kranjcar is out, Bale would'nt be the worst option as a replacement, assuming Gio is still out injured.

Think Harry should have Wilson on the bench on Saturday and start with Huddlestone and Jenas. Wilson really was off the pace against Man Utd after the last international break.

I think wilson should not be involved at all. His game is all about high tempo and energy and he just won't be 100%. He really was awful against United. We have games after in quick succession plus we have the big one on October 31st

BTW, Wilson's national team Honduras have qualified directly to the World Cup after beating El Salvador (a) coupled with Costa Rica being held by USA. Costa Rica and Uruguay will therefore go at it for the playoff ticket to the WC.

Congrats Wilson
