Interesting points though there are thousands of players playing for the main rivals of clubs they supported so this factor should be ignored.
Yes I'm sure they were joking about the Leeds point. But Alfie's beef has never been with United the club, so the Keane incident isn't something that would stop Erling going there in the future.

Crazy how after all that talk, Haaland went for only £17m

Even crazier is how the player wanted to play for Ole, Ole wanted the player, he was that cheap, and yet Ed still managed to balls up the transfer. Apparently they wouldn't agree to some clause about a sell-on or something.

No idea where you are getting that from, he was never going to United, it was either Dortmund or RBL weeks ago. All Manure stories were BS.

That's because of a release clause.

That is the main reason why people don’t buy English players. Solanke is a terrible terrible footballer and just because he is English he cost a shed load.
Don't forget Eddie Howe has paid Liverpool a total of over £40m for Solanke (£19m), Jordon Ibe (£15m) and Brad Smith (£6m, and who???).

You'd be forgiven for thinking someone at Liverpool was blackmailing him.

As all Red Bull Salzburg players have. Signed for peanuts, sold when the player wants (in effect). Mad development churn.
RBS said to Norwegian media that without a low release clause they would never have been able to sign Haaland in the first place. It's great business for them anyway, they signed him for €5m and made four times that off him in just 18 months.

I saw, er, 'someone from Sky' moaning about Haaland's agent moving him from club to club, and then 'how long will he be there (Dortmund) anyway..'. Came across really salty, as if he was an upset United fan. Not sure if he is.

Edit: Kaveh Solhekol:

Such is the nature of transfers.

Dortmund is a good stepping stone to one of the genuinely huge clubs. Not like going to one of them in the first place where every move is down, or it's too big a step, or too much pressure, doesn't play enough etc etc. *Insert reasons why a player doesn't make it here*. Dortmund have a high enough profile to build him up and 50m for them later is a good deal.

Sources have said the release clause mooted was as low as €50m.

And then Schira, who is not reliable, says:
The figures of the transaction #Håland at #BorussiaDortmund: 30 million for the card (20 clause, 10 to the father) - commission from 15m for Raiola. The player signs contract until 2024 from 6m net that rise to 8m from the third year with a release clause.

Euros.
Good business for everyone. And he should play enough at Dortmund to justify the fee in 3yrs if he continues to progress.

Exactly what is wrong modern day football. Agents and fathers , etc., milking the system .

So, if true, the 18m bargain was really 40m....

Schira is an unreliable source but this has been reported by others as the reason Leipzig ended up not pushing hard for him themselves, even with the Red Bull partnership.

Yeh, he's weird. I just posted it at an example of how the future may pan out for Haaland and why Dortmund see this as an investment over a club like, say, Man Utd, who would want to keep the player beyond the 3yrs.

Raiola said:
The club that he had the most direct contact with him was United.

‘They spoke to him the most. Everybody had the chance to talk to him in person. We let that happen especially when he knows Ole.

Clearly he [Erling Haaland] felt that at this moment it was not the right step in his career. There is nothing against Manchester United or Ole.

Don’t begrudge him and his family getting paid. The agent? I’m fucked if that lad, given his dads history within the game, and with his obvious talent, needs an agent, let alone one that absolutely rinses the shit out of you like that.

There’s literally nothing an agent can do to make himself worth that, unless of course you’re really shit and he’s landing you massive moves your talent doesn’t warrant. Clearly not the case here
