I haven't read the book for a while, but he was a good but not brilliant striker at Juve, would disappear from games, then went to Inter after Juve's relegation and Raiolo kept pushing him to be better, saying that none of the elite teams would want him if he wasn't putting in the effort, and I think he arranged for some ex-players to advise him on his game, and then he just got better from that point.
That's the issue with some players - they won't push themselves to be the best if there's no carrot at the end of the stick.

All the talents that has gone down the drain because they were 'to good' for their club or being advice by someone who just wanted a piece of their cake and not helping them achieve their goals. Imagine the likes of i.e Taarabt, Caulker, Boateng, Dos Santos etc. just playing their game and focus on building their talent

All down to different personality types, isn't it? Some players will self destruct regardless. Some of them could have done with an agent giving them a clip around the ear and putting back on the right path.
