Raphael Honigstein:

The Local Government in Spain won't let Barca go under but they may allow them to restructure their debt. So in away BM could be right and they may have to wait a very long time for their money. Not sure what the the UEFA rules are in such a situation. Would Barca be allowed to compete in UEFA competitions if they haven't paid their debts as per contracts ?

Southampton have bought some good players from the SPL, so it'll be interesting to see how he does

consensus seems to be that Sterling is a real statement signing by Chelsea (see John Cross, Mirror)

Its also a statement by Abu Dhabi - a statement that they don't see Chelsea as a threat.

PS - didn't Sterling get some horrific racial abuse at Chelsea a few years ago that was a headline news for a while, prompting Sterling to post a rather eloquent response on instagram?? That was at Stamford Bridge wasn't it??

Sterling is obviously a very good player but his stats really flatter to deceive. He scored a lot by virtue of getting so many chances that even if he only converted 1 in every 4 he could still rack up 20 goal seasons. I don't see him getting the plethora of tap ins from this Chelsea team.

Been to four airports in the last week or so and didn't get any travel related ITK :( however AVB was on my flight from Gatwick to Porto. He had a panini sticker album, hope it was for himself!

Juventus expect Chelsea and Bayern to submit official bids for Matthijs de Ligt. No agreement yet - but de Ligt is close to leaving..

Moussa Niakhaté to Nottingham Forest on permanent deal for €10m plus €5m add-ons from Mainz.
Anel Ahmedhodžić joins Sheffield United for £3m plus add-ons from Bordeaux.

Anyone else find this a weird transfer?

I know he’s club trained for the chaos but he’s really not that good. He seems to have made a career out of being a substitute as he can’t be their first choice for many games.

Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Netherlands defender Nathan Ake, 27, from Manchester City. (Times)

Always sounds like they're using Ake to launder money.

I think they need a number of defenders and being club trained he is worth more to them than anyone else.

Southampton at it again..

Saints are very good at identifying when they're in trouble and making smart and exciting signings both among staff and players to get them out of it.

Given the way they ended last season I thought they might be in trouble this season, but they've made some very promising signings this summer.

Time to go all Souness...

Pogba is everything wrong with modern players (problem society).
"Look at me! Guess which club I am going to?!" attitude. Griezmann pulled that shit a couple of years ago.

Why do these idiots need the clout and to create this hysteria? If you put as much thought and energy into making yourselves better players (team players) maybe you would win more and be remembered more fondly.

The Griezmann one was utterly self-serving.
