Not sure if it’s been mentioned but Arthur moving from Barca to Juve for a hefty fee of £72 million along Pjanic going in the opposite direction for only £12 million less. It’s mind boggling that the fees for players haven’t really changed.

Cooking the books

It‘s an accounting trick apparently. I posted about it in the ENIC thread last week.

Barca are frantically trying to balance the books before the end of this financial year on Tuesday, otherwise all the Spanish experts on podcasts I listen to are saying they're in incredibly deep shit financially.

Expect more baffling decisions from them over the weekend.

The question is, have we got our fiver on the table for Messi?

If the profit is £12m how is it cooking the books or getting around FFP?

If anything they will have to pay more in agents fees/signing on fees if the transfer fee is higher.

I'm sure you are probably right but I just don't see the benefit.
From what I've read it's about asset values more than anything else, they can claim that Pjanic is a €60m asset whereas Arthur was not of the same value having been signed for significantly less. Barca also have to get money off the wage bill so I assume (though I don't know) that Pjanic will be on lower wages than Arthur was.

The way Barca are trying to balance/cook the books now is extremely complicated, especially as they're trying to do an estimated €100m deal for Lautaro Martinez as well. They cannot afford a deal like that and yet they're pressing so hard for it.

I look forward to the day when the player involved in the wink wink transfer says no.

Yeah it will be very interesting to hear what the candidates for club President have to say when they kick off before next summer's election. If one of them says "I've agreed with Pep that he'll come back to us" that candidate will surely win by a landslide.

It would certainly make sense to try since Pep hasn't extended his deal at City yet.

Terrible time to take over Barcelona. Basically an entire team over 30 and Messi not far from the end.

Not sure how much longer Sancho will be there but I have always rated Angel Gomes.

For the first time in years England have some very talented players just need to find some good CBs that we are a bit short of.

If Dier keeps performing the way he is, I can see it being him and McGuire for quite a while.

I don't think those two together would work, both slow and not agile - I suspect it will be Gomez and another.
Dier does look a lot fitter of late but I was thinking who are the CBS behind our main ones for England and what are our options?
