Maybe this means athletico go back in for lacazette? Wanted him before he went to the scum. Possible that there's no CL next season? Wouldn't bet against it
I think Cavani will end up there. Seems like a perfect match on paper too.Maybe this means athletico go back in for lacazette? Wanted him before he went to the scum. Possible that there's no CL next season? Wouldn't bet against it
I think de jong and busquets will be a fine midfield. What they truly need is a good coach.

De Jong in, Rakitić out?
Greizmann in, Malcolm out?
Two players that could do a job for us (even though Rakitić is 31)?
Euro 2016 top scorer on way to the final and important part of World Cup winning team last year. I agree about judging players at one tournament but we’re talking about a player who’s played a key part in helping France reach two consecutive finals - this isn’t a midsized country reaching a QF once because of two good performances.
At club level he has good overall numbers in a squad which isn’t overflowing with attacking talent. He turns up regularly in big games.
He’s a world class player.
Again I don’t really care all that much about the international stuff.
Plus I’d disagree about the attacking talent at Atletico. They have plenty - it’s just down to Simeone’s system that they play so defensive.
That said he’s still a less than a goal every 2 games attacker for both club AND country and I really don’t think he’s as world class as people make out. I think Barca are making a big mistake here and it’s going to be found out.
I was responding to the claim that Grizou is massively overrated. Are Barca playing in any of those that apparently we have missed?
FYPFY. Where was he in that Juve game?
Irrespective of how much you rate him for France surely you see that this is not a great xfer for barca and nor does it address their issues?

Yep! Time will tell !!I truly respect and admire you for all the info and insight you give us into French players, I think Griezmann could be class for Barcelona. We will get the chance to see if he is truly world class.
Definately mate. The coach has made that whole team look worse than they are. Some (Suarez) are definately on the decline, but others just need a fresh start.
I think Rakatic will be a top player well into his mid 30's, as his skillset doesn't rely on immerse athleticism. He would be a great pick up.
I don't know enough about Malcolm, but if Barca bought him in the first place he surely has something about him.
I would love Couhtonho here but his wages and transfer fee will be prohibitive.

Was he in the top 5 performers for France in that WC? I'm thinking Kante, Umtiti, Pogba, Mbappe and Lloris were all better/more important IMO.It is frequently claimed that the very best players need to perform on the big stage. I don’t see a bigger stage than the World Cup and his excellent performances for France, including the final, helped them win the biggest prize going.
Well, you should if they are big games like a CL knockout tie if you argument is the 'big stage'. Is there a bigger stage in club football? And surely the CL is where Barca are expecting to improve. I can think of a missed penalty for him in the final as well IIRC from a couple years ago.You cannot pick out individual games as evidence against that.
Whataboutery and not addressing the point at hand. We are talking about Greizmann, his merits, his potential Barca transfer and its merits. To my knowledge I have made no claims in this thread about Ronaldo or Messi so can't imagine why they'd need to be discussed now nor how it detracts from my statements.Where was Ronaldo in the first leg? Where was Messi at Anfield? Etc ad nauseum
I do t really have a strong opinion on whether he represents good value. Time will tell. Was he in the top 5 performers for France in that WC? I'm thinking Kante, Umtiti, Pogba, Mbappe and Lloris were all better/more important IMO.
And I think the bigger point is whether or not 125M is good money on a 28yo that is not a can't miss transfer considering their last 2 100+M transfers.

I tend to believe he is overrated. But that doesn't mean he is worthless. In his defense this isn't 'market value' as it is Barca, reportedly, paying an RC. But this does feel desperate and like a ManUnited-big splash-galactico-sell tshirts-win the TW type of signing that doesn't actually address their overall issues/weaknesses. Like you said, we shall see.
Real M. are apparently ready to sell 14 of their current players:

Goalkeeper
Keylor Navas
Defenders
Jesus Vallejo, Theo Hernandez and Sergio Reguilon
Midfielders
Dani Ceballos, Marcos Llorente, Mateo Kovacic, James Rodriguez, Martin Odegaard and Oscar Rodriguez
Forwards
Gareth Bale, Lucas Vazquez, Brahim Diaz and Mariano Diaz
I assume this includes on loan as players like Ødegaard and Diaz are still young, and Diaz literally signed for them in January so it would be weird to ship him out permanently so soon.Real M. are apparently ready to sell 14 of their current players:
