For round about 20m it seems.
Would have liked going for him. Offers pace, trickery and is very direct and effective from either flank. Not what we need I guess

not sure about him --- can be brilliant but can flit out of games.....could imagine him being v. good for us in Europe but average in the Prem

Paul Joyce of the Times says: Liverpool agree club record deal with RB Leipzig for Naby Keita which will see him sign NEXT SUMMER.

Edit: follow up

Keita having medical today. Officially joins on July 1, 2018.
Lvpl paid premium now on top of next summer’s £48million release clause.
I think that's ridiculous. Imagine if he gets a serious injury? I know the chances of that are slim but paying 48m for a player but not adding him to your squad now is a bit silly.

Keita is an incredible talent, if he has another season like he did last (which looks like he will so far) he would be beyond Liverpools reach. As much as it is a little mental, in this market it's actually a clever move. Very good move from Liverpool and one that will piss us off to no end next season.

Richard Scudamore has come out in recent weeks and said he anticipates the coming television deal for 2019-2022 will see yet another increase in revenues. Contrary to popular belief on this website that there'd be a huge retraction due to a one year ratings dip, if Scudamore's projection holds true, next summer's transfer prices are going to skyrocket even further. Doing business now for players is smart for clubs like Liverpool. A club like Arsenal, though, is going find themselves spiraling straight into the abyss with a manager and board who are reticent to spend, huge amounts lost in players walking for free, and a toxic atmosphere among supporters.

Liverpool making some smart moves. Selling Coutinho, and getting Lemar, Keita and maybe VVD would be incredible work.

agree with you but also showing patience which some (stress some) of our fans are not showing...specifically pointing to the Keita deal being for next summer....some of our lot are getting outraged that we haven't signed players earlier in this window.

Sky have said they will probably not bid for as many packages next year. The foreign rights will go up but not sure domestic will.
Scudamore has to make people think they will as it is blind bidding. He has to hype it to make the bids higher.
I for one am not sure they will be.

Other than in defence, Liverpool don't really need to sign any players to improve their squad, whereas we need competition for places from back to front.

Not sure VVD is the answer though. Defense is about partnerships, and Liverpool learnt that lesson with Lovren signing.

disagree: if we think of the squad in lines we are better than them at: GK, across the defense, DM, MD but they do have more depth at AM, ST (although would take all our first choices over there ones)

Apparently 40m. Bad news for us regarding Barkley. Everton will say AOC only had a year on his deal too...
I think its a net-positive for us.

Everton can claim whatever they want - but it comes down to who is willing to pay, and how much. If this takes up some of Chelsea's budget, and roster space - and takes them out of the bidding, it will drive Barkley's price down, not up.
