The amount of times the ball gets into a positive position and then it ends up back with Dier, in my opinion is more down to certain players not having the ability or belief to play forward and would rather play safe.

I think some players struggle to play on the turn, so what ever direction they are facing when they get the ball, that's the direction they will most likely play it back. .

One of the lowest quality halves of football between 2 PL teams I've ever seen. Usually at least the opposition try and make it interesting.

Sessegnon for one, unless he is played through down the wing. Anywhere between the penalty areas, his first thought is always backwards

Happy days atleast we aren't 2 down only need 1 goal in 2nd half now ?
That's it. I just wait for 2nd half these days as 1st half is always poor, so I consider it a win if we are not chasing in the 2nd half.

Thing we have decent chance of a 1-0 win here

One of Conte's greatest mystery is why he doesn't like to use a creative playmaker. ?‍♂️ We could have really signed one and do one tonight.
What like Eriksen, fabregas, barella, pirlo? We are aiming to play 3 4 3 so why would we have signed one?

Whilst we haven't created much, we have at least been moving it forward and not falling deeper and deeper into our own half. Far from brilliant but better than we have been starting.

I know I've said it a few times but the whole summer PR campaign around not having a starting XI just gets more bizarre with every game.

I can't accept it's possible to tell a players worth from training alone. Some things about a player can only be found out in a match environment (both good and bad).

Biss being a beast this half tho. Lenglet also playing well to me. Always some silver linings right lads.

Firepower on the bench with kulu and Gil. Here's hoping for a more exciting 2nd half

Are we the only side who are deliberately not using too much energy in the first half in order to go full pelt in the second half? It’s clearly tactical as it’s happening every game at the minute. Maybe it’s a work of absolute genius but surely as an overall we’re just using the same energy if we end up having to chase games.

Also down to a complete lack of movement behind their midfield. Switched to man c vs chelsea at half time, so much better movement. We have no good options when no one dares to make forward runs centrally. We just aim it for the wing, hoping something will happen.

Ive seen worse by us this season - the bar is low though- second half will be better though

And that's my point. Perhaps there's some altering needed to incorporate a playmaker. It just makes our midfield so much more dynamic.

Yeah, it's why with all the talk of CB's and WB's, you have to wonder just how pivotal a couple of forward thinking/progressive/creative players are for this squad. It's hard to know without having capable and flourishing players in certain other vital positions in this system, but it's probably my only concern with us in that we haven't shown the greatest of interest in such players.

Yeh this has been boring, but at least it's been competently boring. Onwards and upwards!
