Agree with everything you said here apart from blaming fans. How on earth can any of our fans take responsibility for the shower of shit these players and the club serve up each week? Even the most vocal are entitled to voice their opinion and have absolutely no say in the board’s, club’s managers, coaches or players decisions.

I do think our overall attitude as fans coincides with the personality of the club, the fans may feel like it's the club that make them feel that way but ultimately all relationships work both ways and if we didn't have such a defeatist, anxious, here we go again vibe during everygame both online, at the stadium and approached things with more delusion like Liverpool fans and gave the players some backing when they lack confidence then perhaps that might remove some of the fear in their play. It's just an idea and I'm not having a go at you as I myself was an example of not being supportive as I was extremely critical of them last night in the heat of the moment and failed to acknowledge that they don't trust themselves because of the way they've been coached the past few years.

Why would he want to sabotage the worst defensive substitute appearance in Spurs history by making a potentially goal-saving block?
If you watch the replays from behind the goal or behind the scorer, it is laughable

it shows the folly of keeping Stellini

how is someone who is likely to go and work with the man he’s replacing gonging to speak ill of his former and likely future boss?

The weird thing is Stellini was spot on with where and when the problem was after the game. You would hear Conte talk about how the first halves were too negative as well. Is it that the players can't do what they want, or a misinterpretation, or what?

Or maybe now the players have just clocked off for the summer...

That picture is genuinely funny, every single one of our defenders and goalkeeper standing there with their arms outstretched trying to blame someone.

It's your job you moronic tools, get across the line of the ball or save it, who are they blaming? why is Hugo taking the knee as the shot comes in?

Utter cowardice. I’ve never seen anything like it from a professional sports team.

I’m actually very surprised it’s not being talked about more in the media - it was absolutely extraordinary and indicative of massive failings at the club.

I saw it in the previous game v Southampton. Carbon copy cave in.

Yeh, we get a fair bit of politics in team selection imo . Forster has been a breath of fresh air between the sticks, but we have to ignore the evidence of our eyes and bow down to our world cup winner. Doubt we'll see Forster again this season regardless of hapless Hugo's mistakes.
Sonny plays regardless of form. Reminds me of the endless playing of Dele that cost us dear imo. Plain evidence from the eyes doesn't seem to count with our management...they're so scared of offending senior players.

Anyway tiny plus from this match. Stellini will be fucking FORCED to play Danjuma when he needs an attacking sub. There's no way out for him to exclude our 'club signing'. Conte's shadow strongly in evidence still sadly.
It's no coincidence that Conte said Lloris would be first choice when fit and then surprise, surprise, even after he's been given the heave ho, his mate Stellini decides to implement Conte's idea. Stellini and Mason have the tactical nous and personality of dead sheep.

I saw it in the previous game v Southampton. Carbon copy cave in.

Last night was worse - Southampton had been giving us trouble all game and still had 11 men. Everton last night had barely laid a glove on us, conceded a penalty, lost a man - and Spurs embarked on the biggest act of cowardly self-destruction I’ve ever seen.

Also, the fact it was the second game in a row for that to happen makes it even more shocking.

It would have been nice if the players set out to prove Conte wrong, show they can support each other when the going is tough, and grind out a result in a tough place. Maybe even some more positive attacking play and secure 3rd place.

But no, they won a penalty and then let the 10 relegation zone men come at them and conceded to make it a draw, like at the last relegation zone game that led to his comments.
We were never going to get anything like that, especially as the opportunity to motivate the players by use of "I know the old manager did this with you, it was crap, this is how we're gonna fix it" can't be used as Stellini was part of that problem.... and Conte's buddy. Hardly gonna slam the former administration to get a reaction.

Even though Conte has gone, he still may as well have been directing from the hospital.

This draw feels like a loss. The whole thing summed up supporting Spurs in a nutshell. You see it happening. There is a reason for the Spursy jibe. We can't get rid of it.

Everton down to ten men, 1-0 up, then back against the walls. Bringing on a defender who hasn't been good enough for that huge fee, and a bit part player who's days are numbered. Both costing us the 3 points.

I guess potentially not making the champions league is a blessing in disguise. We need a mass clear out.

Kane, Bentacur, Romero, Kulusevski and Sonny (on form) are excellent on their day, but the rest are all either ok or bang average.

Man City have money galore, Arsenal haven't hit their peak and boast a young squad, Chelsea have a team of stars who will eventually gel, United are slowly sorting out their decade of dross, Liverpool and Klopp will sort out their mess and Newcastle will only go from strength to strength in the next decade.

Ever since Jol it felt like we could always go from strength to strength, we hit our peak with Poch and haven't built from that. It is looking like a tough 5-10 years ahead without any sound singings.

Booing players names being read out on team sheets, or when they are coming on as subs is ok is it? Helpful is it? Likely to have a positive impact on that player or the team is it?

100% a certain section(which is what I wrote) of our support need to take a long hard look at themselves.
Whilst I agree that booing players etc. isn't helpful, it still doesn't mean they are to blame for the way the club is run or the players that we buy (and fail to sell when they aren't up to scratch), or the team that is picked, or the formation that is set or the way the players are coached. They're frustrated and have every right to be. They're just not directing it at the right people and until that happens nothing will change.

I have been stewing over this and it really fucks me off (no shit). These are the main annoyances:

- Persisting with 2 in the middle and yet again getting overrun in midfield.
- Son being shit (made to come back and hold the ball up, when it actually just bounces off him). Change him and/or the formation to better suit (probably both).
- The calamitous back three formation. Get rid once and for all. They sit way too deep and invite pressure. Dier just points a lot. Make them play in a back 2 CBs and then they have no excuse to not do their job. This also includes stopping the CBs join the attack. What's the fucking point of that - they're not midfielders or strikers.
- Similar to the above, WBs should be FBs who overlap now and again. In ****e's stupid system they are meant to be the main build up outlets (you know what I mean). They're fullbacks and can't be expected to be creative midfielders. It's the wrong fucking skillset. Fucking knobheads.
- Everton get a man sent off. We score and then sit back and invite pressure. Dumb ****s.
- 10-man Everton then start high pressing us from goal kicks and the like. They are a man short - kick it over their fucking heads to one of our three forwards or a midfielder. More dumb ****iness.
- Along with the above - when Everton are a man down and start bossing us - take one of the CBs (or forwards) off and put another CM on. Start pressing them in the middle of the pitch and high up (get Danjuma on).

The level of stupid ****iness we all witnessed is next level. It's mainly on Stellini (for persisting with ****e's stupid tactics), Levy (for persisting with Stellini - dumb **** - it should be Mason) and the players for being thick. If they can't see what's happening, then fuck me they shouldn't be professional footballers.

Many of us (me included) stupidly expected some sort of reaction from the players. But, I guess that was wishful thinking - what we needed was a clean break from ****e, his staff, their one and only plan, stupid fuckling 343, defensive boring tactics.

Give the fucking job to Mason and let him go back to the tactics he used a couple of years back (4231 from memory). I don't care if we don't have fit players for the system. Play Lenglet at LB (lots of teams play a CB at FB these days), play three in the fucking middle, bench Son for Danjuma.

Rant over. That feels slightly better.

I don’t know how much it would have cost in wages to field that squad that played on Monday night, but probably not too far shy of £1,000,000 - perhaps more. Who knows.

Some of them 150k, some 80k, some possibly up to 250-300k, some a bit less. Whatever

That’s essentially what those players earned for that “performance”.

It beggars belief that as a human being you cannot see yourself in a position of ultimate privilege and you turn in an effort like that to show for it.

Completely different world.

Potentially millions of people watching you around the world at any one time and you simply do not put in the effort. You are happy for millions of viewers to watch you perform to that level.

Maybe I’m out of touch but when I played competitively in front of our home crowd I’d leave it all out on the field. I’d finish the game blowing out of my arse (and I used to be really fit.)
There was never a ball I didn’t chase, never an opponent I didn’t tackle, never a 50/50 I backed out of, never a lung-busting sprint down the line I didn’t make.

I was getting paid precisely 0.

I did it out of pride, wanting to be better and because fans (specifically my parents) were watching. That was enough. The hunger for it never faded in the 10-12 years I played.

If a regular Joe can give a shit even through personal pride alone, why does it seem that OUR pros cannot seem to hold themselves to the same standard given all the benefits that come along with being a Premier League footballer??

(Appreciate this isn’t necessarily a black and white post and it’s multifaceted etc. But I would hope that the general point is kinda clear.)
