Probably works out to £5.5m in total when Levy's tumble dryer esque purchase plan is broken down into payments.

He is worth more than Boateng....

Leeds are no longer the debt-ridden sham of yesteryear and Bates won't sell unless a pretty penny is offered. he may only be 19, but he's their best player.

agreed but he is closely followed by beckfords strike partner ( can't spell his name!!).

Beccio?

he's horseshit

I don't even rate Beckford. If you guys don't like what Darren Bent brings to the team, think of an older, lazier, petulant, 'wannabe gangsta' version

I'm all for signing Delph, if we think we can use him. We signed Bostock last year for very little money and Parrett on the cheap before him. I think there is very little to lose in those kind of deals. If we sign Delph for circa £6m it's a lot of money for someone who might not make an impact. It's a similar gamble to the signing of Kaboul or Boateng. Obviously it could work, a la Young at Villa, but this money could also be well spent helping fund players who will definately make an impact on the first team.

Don't think I'm being mental when I say Delph could replace Jenas within a year (and I'm no Jenas basher). He has a great engine and he loves a tackle.

I was told yesterday he's all but gone, but I couldn't find out which team has snapped him up :-(

Wasn't there someone on the Barca match thread that said he was sitting pretty close to Delph and his father at Wembley?

If so, then he's probably on his way to us.

Don't know much about this lad, only seen him play once or twice and on youtube. According to youtube however, he has a hell of a left foot.

Just spoke to my Leeds mate who said this.
Better than Lennon when he was at leeds. Best player outside premier league, way to good for us (leeds). Technically very good, can play anywhere across midfield. Best in centre. Already a eng u21 player and will certainly make the step up to england team in future. needs to go was embarrassing watchin last year trying to play with our lot(leeds). He was on a different level.

i see lots of him last year as my old man is a massive leeds fan so i went along with him to 20+ games.

imo he is the best player outside of the prem by a country mile. better than lennon was at his age.

a bit of a temper on him as he is still raw in that respect but his vision and shooting is far advanced for his years and he would knock jenas into a cocked hat with his distribution.

i know it would be a massive step up for the boy but i have not seen anyone this good at the club since cantona.

I really don't see how you can compare him to Lennon at any age. One is a quick, skillfull winger and one is a combative midfielder.

In any case, Lennon was playing for England at the world cup at 18, Delph is now 19.

Tbh i cant see us forking out another 6 mil on a kid delph has serious potential but for 6-8 Mil is it worth it?

Come on how many of the youth have made it that we have bought?

Urm yeh thats right lennon and well yeh only lennon :| and if you are trying to make a point O'Hara but hes not really a world beater is he? even though i love the lad hes just average

As much as I like us investing in new young talent, I would be fucked off if we spent around £15m on Delph and the Kyles, whilst Harry is struggling to bring in the number 9 that we need for Defoe/Keane to play off.

delph is skillful and quick too and can also play on the left wing.

Yes sure Bostock,Parret and co will have there turn but at the moment they look like they are being overshadowed by yes One of our very own academy players in Jake Livermore maybe its time we see if our academy is actually any good?

Youth players all go one way they either go the lennon route or they go the routledge, lee barnard,Alton Thelwell route which is more likely i think all spurs fans are foolish by thinking all youth players are already prem class players and will walk into our team then they fail with a massive amount of pressure on there shoulders.

Surely thats two ways

But he's not a winger. That's like comparing Jenas or Ghaly with Lennon, they're totally different.

I rate him highly, but Lennon was different class when he moved to us.

Maybe so, but you have to try with Youth, isn't that the whole point? We see potential and hope we can coach them to be good enough for the first team... some make it, some don't & football of all levels from grass roots to champions league teams all work on this policy, you have to take on a lot of potential to eventually get the polished diamond.

Its always a gamble, but hey, what if we'd said 'nah, we won't bother with Lennon because we've just bought Routledge'?

You have to take the risk if it's financially viable.
