I honestly believe he'd go straight into the first team squad.

if we sold O'Hara and brought in Delph it would be a definite upgrade imo. He is going to be some player. just a great, all round midfielder and athlete.

But I heard an interview with him not long ago saying he would rather stay in Leeds than go to a club like Arsenal and join their youth setup. he wants to play competitive football and would only come if we could offer him that imo.

We used to sign players like Davies, Etherington, Doherty, Gardener and they would get a decent run in the team.

Ok we signed Lennon and Bale and they are now important players but I worry that the likes of Bostock, Rose, Parrett and possibly Delph wont get the same chance.

We have got to give young players the chance to shine, I worry we will not. At United Fergie has brought through loads of their youth set up over many years. Ok Giggs, Scholes, Gary Neville and Beckham were world class but he gave them their chance, he had the courage of his convictions.

Even now Fletcher, the 2 brasilian full backs and the likes of Gibson and Wellbeck get a game and prove him right. If we don't sign players this season could it be a blessing in the long term?

He's obviously very talented and quick and knows how to shoot, but the defending for most of those goals was ... oh dear.

That's because the players in the first team squad ahead of them were dross. No one at Tottenham in those days could compare to Modric, Woodgate, Lennon, Defoe, Assou-Ekotto... I could go on, but you get the point. Any reasonably talented young player would be able to compete with the trundlers and plodders who turned out every Saturday. Those days are gone. A youth player has to be something special to get onto the bench.

Who are where, now? OK, Davies has taken on a new lease of life at Fulham, but do you believe letting him go was a disaster? A lot of people thought Gardner was a better prospect than King at one time, and maybe he was, but where is he now? At Hull, struggling with injuries.

We have a bad, bad habit of jumping on any youngster who shows a smidgeon of flair and hailing him as the next whoever. Similarly, someone like O'Hara gets dismissed as 'not good enough for Spurs' because he doesn't do multiple step-overs. Some on here would have said the same of Steve
Perryman.

We make similar points, please at least let them got the chance, we then make the same point though, you don't need caps to be a legend.

First season back on loan with Leeds could be an option seeing as we're not entering the reserves into a league, and don't have Europa to offer him game time?

You are correct, in cricketing terms, tommy trundlers are rife.

Loved your roof garden by the way, saw the BBC link a while ago. If only my father in law had watered my herb garden as well when I was in Andalucia.

Have a good summer David!

although i respect The Championship level, but it is League one, the EPL is far stronger than the past, let alone our high expectations.

if he is going to be useful player like O'Hara - who was started in League one with Millwall, why not to look at him if he isn't expensive ?

Ive spoken to a few of my Leeds mates and they all say that he is good - too good for league 1 - definitely good enough for the CCC but definitely not good enough (yet) for the EPL.

Why not?

If people are saying his a slight upgrade on O'hara then his Definetly atleast a low-grade EPL level player.

It may be overkill with bostock, parrett, rose and townsend already vying for a squad spot as an attacking midfielder/winger type.

How many of these young'uns can we have?

until signings players likes Hudd or Lennon etc.. we shouldn't complain because that's the way forward, we need to try until signings someone cheap and good, every big club do something like that.

They said that he simply isn't goof enough in their opinions. For example they said to me that he often goes missing in games.

I'd say that happens with quite a lot of youngs players, but it definately seems he is a talent. I'm sure if he came into the first team squad he'd get some time but he'd probably still be 5th or 6th choice (behind Jenas, Palacios, Huddlestone, Modric, O'Hara). That would give him the opportunity to come out and play with freedom and not be under too much pressure. Also he would get to train with better players which can only improve him as a player (imagine if he took a little Palacios and a little Modric).

The one thing that worries me a little is that he is quite a small lad. People who have seen more of him than me can probably say how he copes with the physical side of League 1.

Sure I read the other day that Villa had £5 million bid turned down for Delph last week. Ive not really seen that much of him. But do know that he has had rave reviews for past season or 2. I think Leeds have to be bit more realistic with his price though, This is by no means meant to be offensive to them or any other league 1 club. But I dont think any player in league 1 is worth £5 million +. Id be unhappy if we paid anything more than a maximum £ 3 million straight up then with various different add ons to take the price up abit more if he proves as good as his reviews say.

5.5mil for delph is the maximum we should pay. he is a talent but isn't one of the three players that will make the team push the top 6 IMO.

While it may be true that he isn't quite ready now I woul dhave thought it wasn't that bad a price for a talented English player in the current market. His price might be inflated because he has been a little overhyped in the press, but I would imagine that some clubs will be in for him at that price.

5.5 mill crikey! That's about 4.5 too much

People said the same thing about Ashley Young a couple of years ago, now he is being quoted as a £25m player. £1m is nothing. There is no way Leeds would sell him for anything like that as he is too valuable to them.
