Come on.....This is United......Fergie's influence will still be there so they would have had an extra 7 minutes to get that paperwork sent off!

Coentrao wants Champions League football and we can't offer that and when you consider we don't have CL football and you look at the quality of players we have brought in I don't think one single fan has anything to complain about.

For some reason I thought you could do loans after the window closed, I guess not. Hopefully they've missed out.

Thought the deal broke down due to his wage demands , not champions league football ? Hence we went back in for the player will an improved offer .

You are probably right. Not sure on that one but I thought I had read he had no interest in joining us.

Manchester United seal Fabio Coentrao loan as last-minute Leighton Baines bid fails

2 Sep 2013 23:58
PLUS: The Red Devils send Nick Powell out on loan to Wigan for some Championship (and Europa League) experience

Manchester United secured Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao on a season-long loan at the 11th hour last night - easing the pain of their failed bid for Leighton Baines.
United boss David Moyes pulled off a major coup by capturing Portugal international Coentrao, who has been frozen out at Real Madrid after losing his place to Marcelo last season.

Coentrao has yet to make a La Liga appearance for Real this season and was keen to move following the summer departure of former Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, who brought his compatriot to the Bernabeu in 2011.
The 25-year-old Coentrao, who has 36 caps for Portugal, will provide competition for United's first-choice left-back Patrice Evra.

Manchester United’s Nick Powell signed for Wigan in a rush last night – to make sure he can play in Europe.
Midfielder Powell, 19, has been wanted by Owen Coyle all summer and he got the nod to take the England Under-21 on loan.
But the Latics had to move fast to register him for the Europa League.

Must say however it's been an amazing transfer window , the quality of signings we have made has been unbelievable !

Totally agree. That should be enough to get us Champions League football and if we do then we can challenge anyone for new players.

Ben Smith, BBC SportCOENTRAO UPDATE
"BBC Sport has learnt that Manchester United did submit their paperwork for their season-long loan deal for Fabio Coentrao before the 2300 BST deadline. But the move will only go ahead if both United and Real Madrid entered the correct details of the deal on Fifa's new transfer matching system. The deadline for that system closed at midnight."
