Is anyone else quite excited about the draw?

I know it pales in comparison to the CL, but why not go for it?

Depends what kind of team we're putting out for these games but I'd love to give it a go and win it!

Club Brugge, Zurich and Shamrock Rovers would be a nice group... As long as we don't have to go too far for any of the games I'm not really fussed who we get... Udinese, Bilbao and Lazio would be tricky games, but there's no one in the draw we couldn't beat...

I do hope we take this competition seriously, as we have a very good chance of winning it. Aside from PSV, Atletico and Schalke the other teams are not very good, although Hannover, Alkmaar, Kiev, PSG, Lazio and Udinese could be difficult, especially away from home. We did struggle somewhat against Twente last year, but we should be better than them now.

We'd get a first hand check-up on youth legend Jonathan Blondel if that happened as well.

If we get that we've got luckier than Man U got with their CL group.

Worst case scenarios from pot 2 and 3 are Udinese and Hannover for me. It really doesn't matter who we get from pot 4, all the teams seem to be fairly weak.

I take it they have now changed that ludicrous system of allocating to play either home or away legs in a group stage match?

Me too! Away match is 15 min drive for me!!!

If we do get Rovers it wil be held in the Aviva stadium, a 60,000 seater, so no issue with tickets.

Is that 100%? Rovers will want an English side no doubt. It'd pull a huge crowd. Just hope its us. Aviva is only 30mins away from me.

Also, it would increase our lead over the Scum in terms of number of European trophies.

It would indeed.

Personally I think we should pay far more attention to the Premiership, and if that means resting players during the group stages, so be it.

On the other hand if we manage to get to the quarter-finals, I'd like to see us really go for it.

Exactly the way I see to.

Yes it's a proper group stage now, 4 teams per group, three home games, three away games.

Fact is we have a sqaud large enough and capable enough of competing on all fronts this year but nonetheless the Premier League is our absolute priority, make no bones about that.

However, I certainly hope Harry has learnt a thing or too about rotation from last years events so from what we can guage from last night is that alot of the kids will get their chance and coupled along with some more experienced heads, albeit fringe players, this should be sufficient to get through the group stage whoever we may draw.
