Different types of player. I still believe that because we were so crippled by Sandro's injury last season that Capoue was brought in as cover for him and a rotation option.

do we 100% absolutely have to have a big, strong, powerful but limited defensive midfielder playing in every game though? every time we've gone out with three of the "beasts" they've been out-thought, outplayed and outpassed by technically better but smaller less beastly players. i think the need for capoue type players is vastly overstated and i'm not quite sure how we ended up with four clones in central midfield, none of them can really play.

Capoue can't play?

I know what you are trying to say, but the real problem I think has been Paulinho, or at least AVB's insistence on playing him every game. Dembele and Sandro has been proven to work. Capoue has looked a capable back up to Sandro. Where does Paulinho fit in? Not sure.

I certainly think we need the option. If Sandro is out then we have no option.

my point is can we do without a destroyer or is it a necessity? utd didn't have one when they won the league, arsenal don't really have one right now, chelsea often play without one. why are we saddling ourselves every game with one, two or even three of these players?

Talking about the poorest first team player, it is not Dawson. There is another which shouldn't have been in the squad at all, let alone starting.

I'm talking about players that are first choice to be honest.

I wouldn't say it was necessary in every line up but I think it should be an option we always have should we need it.

Arsenal have Flamini for that. Chelsea could do with one.

Frankly all of the team should have been fined a weeks wages for trying to impersonate a football team

I disagree, slightly. Walker (for about an hour) and Chadli (for the whole match) looked like the only ones who actually gave a damn. As 'SteveH' said, Chadli did himself no harm. Certainly doesn't deserve to lose his shirt before any of the others do.

As for the crazy criticism of Capoue, well the odd thing is, 'SpursManChris' said, "I just analyzed the highlights. He didn't have a foggy notion what he was doing. He was playing out of position the whole match."

I think I've made my point there, without needing to say much more?

Dawson was poor, slow on the turn and very laboured-I thinks his times up now. Naughton was playing out of position and basically lost-not good enough for Tottenham. Walker was trying to hard. Caupoue came under a wave of attacks from Liverpool was clearly targeted with hardly any CM protection it was a baptism of fire his game at CB against Sunderland was a stroll in the park.

AVB had CB injuries, I think the team he put out was the best defensive line up available though the score line was a complete embarrassment and to have no shots on target even worse.

We've taken some beatings this season.

Ever considered taking up poetry, Dr Know? :D

No but I think I need to go wash out my mouth after swearing there. Got to call my mum tonight and she don't understand what it means to be a Spurs fan. I must say though she does tell off the little kids back home that are running around in Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal and L'Pool tops.
Last time I was home, I remember her calling my cousin (her nephew) a fake! The bastards never been to England in his life but wanted to have banter with me (he says he's an Arsenal fan) had the bloody cheek to ask me to get him a shirt!!

Capoue was all over the place vs Liverpool, but the stupidly high line didnt help a makeshift partnership, especially against the best player in the Prem. But like someone else said, we forget that, start from scratch and move on now.

Never been to England so he's not a proper fan?

This attitude annoys me.
