I doubt he gives a flying shit what you think.

He's a CM who was covering CB. Dawson is supposed to be defence leader and team leader. Your poorest first team player shouldn't be your captain.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

Was it Etienne Capoue 0 - Liverpool 5 or was it Spurs 0 - Liverpool 5.

The whole team was terrible why highlight one player, who is playing out of position and also had a decent game the week before?

Chadli did himself no harm. Saurez on that form is different gravy - Daws and Capoue were lumpy gravy. But I have to blame Dawson as the senior player.

Suarez would give any CB a hard time at the moment. I don't know what Capoue was told to do, or if he did it, but either way it was a disaster. He looked OK there in the previous match when we could hang onto the ball, but v Liverpool we were overrun in midfield so hardly surprising he got pulled about a lot.

Now go back and analyse his games in CM where he usually plays.
The point is, with Dawson out for west ham, he'll be playing CB again and with Vertonghen out he's likely to continue to cover. But you don't need to be a CB regular to know to not drift mindlessly into the heart of the midfield.

Frankly all of the team should have been fined a weeks wages for trying to impersonate a football team

I just analyzed the highlights. He didn't have a foggy notion what he was doing. He was playing out of position the whole match. I honestly don't think he was aware that he was a Center Back, but rather was aware that he was a central midfielder. Him & Dawson were not in the least bit a Central Defensive partnership in that match but were totally disconnected the entire time and that didn't help our cause.

Hopefully this thread can be used to give him prasie in the weeks and months ahead and I will gladly remove what I've just written.
Yes he didn't have a good game. You could see that after about 10 minutes he was fatigued, and I think this is a big reason he was out of position. His fitness should improve as he plays more and hopefully his performances will too. He has a lot of potential imo. He can defend and he is a good passer of the ball. I think he, and the whole team for that matter, just needs to relax in possession and not force high risk, low reward passes.

Suarez's movement is excellent. For a non-natural CB, it was one of the toughest players to have to play against. He won't have to deal with many strikers like that.

Fucking hell. If you're going to go back, pick that game apart and make threads for all the shit that happened, you'll be here until the new year. It was a clusterfuck of immense dimensions from all involved. Best just to let it go, wipe the slate clean for all involved with a new guy in charge and start from there.

Apparently Kaboul and Vlad are ok for tonight anyway.

Totally agree.
Its a whole different kettle of badgers playing out of position against the bottom of the Russian league compared to against top 4 in the PL with one of Europe's hottest strikers!

I genuinely felt very sorry for Capoue on Sunday and as much as I love Daws the person, Daws the player shouldn't be anywhere near our first team. However when you have your best 3 CBs injured what do you do?

On the occasional times he's filled in at cb while in France I highly doubt he'd have come up against the same quality as an inform Suárez. Harsh to single him out imo.

Talking about the poorest first team player, it is not Dawson. There is another which shouldn't have been in the squad at all, let alone starting.

To be fair, he was playing out of position. And Suarez could make an italian defense taught by defensive blokes what went to defense school look average this season.

That with the added fact the entire team were simply plop. it's hard to point a finger at anyone in particular. Let's not forget that capoue isn't that long returned from injury so that may have played part.

Im feeling a bit of Capoue love right now and think hell become a very good player for us. Much like all our new signings, once the dust has had chance to settle.
