COYS is the only site I've been banned from, and I'm proud of that. The site is an absolute joke.

I was banned for saying Sherwood was a cancer at the club. If I had said negative influence that would have been fine. But I broke the rule "Do not use terms that relate to illness or disability, e.g 'cancer', 'retard', to describe someone who is not suffering from those medical issues. Using those words inappropriately causes unnecessary distress to COYSers whose loved ones have faced, or who currently are facing, these major challenges."

Fair enough I suppose as it was a rule that I broke. But COYS mods really are the Velvet Fascists of the Spurs forum world.

COYS mods are better than Glory Glory mods though. Glory Glory used to be a great board but the last few years it's turned to absolute turd. Mainly down to the owner having an irrational hatred of Redknapp and then employing like minded mods. Caused a real bad feeling on the board and generated a them and us mentality. They then started handing out the banning stick like the church would hand out chastity belts to nuns assisting at a sex addict clinic (and if you were pro-Redknapp it didn't take much for you to get banned). The most hilarious thing was a mate of mine, from work, got banned from the site because they thought he was me! o_O. I wasn't actually banned (I had quit the site some weeks earlier as I'd had enough) but then they decided to ban my account also and rename his posts to my name..

Got to say I am really enjoying SC so far. The right level of disagreement and passion but generally everyone debates in a civilised manner.

I got banned from there when someone found out I'd said something elsewhere not terrible, but not exactly complimentary, either* - two years earlier! so someone apparently saw it (two years later), reported it, and I - who'd never given any trouble on the site, nor said anything else about COYS in the interim - got pulled up for it and accused of being two-faced. 'you're being all matey-matey with us to our face, and slagging us off behind our backs', or some such. I wouldn't have thought I was doing either, to be frank. thin-skinned doesn't begin to cover it, but whatever.

*it was something to the effect of, 'a good amount of ITK, tons of 'thumbs up', but a bit short on substantive discourse'.

Got banned for saying that the fans should get behind the club rather than boo players or tear them apart on Internet forums. Was absolutely gutted at the time as I thought it was the only place that could satisfy my spurs needs. Am absolutely delighted now and can't believe I wasted so many years on there when I could have been here. The problem they have is that the moderation allows people to go on and say the most ludicrous OTT nonsense about the club where, if it was your mate, you'd call him a cock and he'd shut up for 10 minutes. There, you're not allowed to call a cock a cock so it became dominated by people who thought the club was falling apart.

I did prefer the OT stuff there, and how it was all in one place, and kind of miss some of the core posters but am much happier here.

I have belonged to the site for quite a few years although much prefer this one

When it first started I thought the debates were lively interesting and had good content. But the quality went down hill. Now I can see why it after reading through this thread as looks as though everybody interesting was banned.

Football is a passionate game and people can get emotional but their heavy handed approach makes posting difficult.

i did get a warning from a mod about a post. I would have happily apologised except the mods message to me was far worse than anything I put in the thread. The mods used words that they did not understand the meaning of so I just stopped posting

This is a good site but the only thing that mildly irritates me on here is some people's use of SPAM and Dislike. Why cant people explain what they disagree about but at least explain and not just have a hissy fit. It ok to have a different opinion.

The trick with COYS is not to respond to anything incorrect just report them to the mods because if you do don't the other bloke will.
I got into trouble once when someone wrote something I found very offensive, I replied pointing out in a very respectfull way where he was being unfair, he reported me and I had to write to someone I think called greenegg and apologise, as I was new I did but when I got reported some time later for giving my opinion on something (I can't even remember what) I had to apologise and got a one week ban or something so I wrote and explained that COYS obviously wasn't the right forum for me and I resigned, I like to think I banned them:)
It's a nice forum and I won't knock it but I prefer the rough and tumble of SC, ITS MUCH MORE FUN!!!

Yeah, you were being positively fanatical and deserved to get banned :)

I've never ventured over there. From the comments here, sounds like it was a good decision

I don't have the appetite for being policed in my spare time. Get enough of that at the office

I was on here first but went over to COYS. I was a regular poster and did enjoy the standard of debate, but in the end I got a 2 week ban for blasphemy or something (it's hard to recall but apparently some religious people were butthurt). It seemed pretty innocuous at the time and nothing that even gets negged on here, but basically I thought I couldn't on principle contribute to a site that censured free speech to that degree so I didn't go back.

Having said that I was warned previous to my ban and frankly took little notice. They are entitled to run their forum whatever way they choose; it just wasn't to my taste in the end. I still think it's an excellent site (or was when I left) and I don't have any bitter feelings towards Prof or any of the mods.

That was a few years back though. Has it gotten more puritanical lately? (Obviously this is a question for those who still have access not those who are currently banned and may be a tad biased :p).

Banned from GG and COYS, my choice really, I knew I'd be banned before I'd even hit the post button but if you feel strongly about something you have to say something, massive difference in the style of the banning orders, one was very simply put "You keep questioning and insulting the mods" whereas the other one was more like the sentencing announcement the other day in the Pistorius trial, it took about three days to play out while they got other members to counsel me. They're internet message boards for gawd's sake, some people attach too much importance to them.

Got locked out because I didn't respond to an email they sent me. Found it to be the most rule obsessed forum I've ever joined.

I started here, went to COYS as at the time was better for mobile viewing. I found it very difficult to engage with people on there - it's got a select few who will speak with each other and most of my 3,000 posts were ignored. Came back here when I realised it was much more interactive. COYS was too heavily moderated IMO, I know it is necessary to a point but they took it too far and squeezed the fun out of it.

I got told off for questioning why there should be "I've lost my girlfriend" and "I hate my life" threads in the same forum as Spurs Chat, so I left and came here.
