Great fun reading everyone's stories in this thread. All that's clear is their loss is our gain over here!

Seems to me a lot of folk find themselves on this path

COYS (police state) > SC (freedom of speech within reason) > The Fighting Cock (Anarchy)

As a poster i do not think i would last 5 mins on COYS if i had a posting account

90%+ of my ratings on here have been positive, but i also have enough neutral and negative ratings to know i would quickly incur the wrath of the mods on there

I received a temporary ban for sending indecent images of myself to several of the mods. Obviously that led to a bit of an atmosphere which culminated in me receiving a life time ban when I egged the Prof's car on Halloween.

I never got over them removing the rofl smilie in case it upset people, I used to love that little chap, it never quite seemed the same site after

Still some good people on there but when you have a constantly expanding set of rules the fun goes out of posting

Did you get banned Barry, or just quit? I remember a few people asking what happened to you and I checked your last few posts in case of controversy and they were really innocuous, so assumed you simply quit. I remember the long rambling discussions you used to have with Nicola Berti fella.

I was about ten posts short of my 1,000th post when I got banned as well. What a complete waste of fireworks and party poppers that proved to be. Cheers Prof (y)

I use the site. It's a different vibe to here. More on topic and fewer knob gags. I leave it to you to decide if that is a plus or a minus. :)

I've never been on there. Thought I'd take a look just now and my anti-virus popped up with a warning saying that a threat had been detected. Thought it was a good enough sign to stay the fuck away from there.

I joined COYS about 8 years ago or there about. Back then it was easy to join and the atmosphere was more relaxed. But I preferred glory glory and didn't post much at COYS, Sometime I noticed that my account no longer existed. Recently I wanted to rejoin but now the registration process is a piece of work. I've seen a job application form less complicated. Sufficed to say I'll not bother with it as long as they do their darn best to keep people away.

Well the issue was that I challenged someone who blatantly lied in a post and then I was told I was playing the man not the ball by having a go at his opinion. I rejected that, as for me a lie isn't an opinion and actually the poster actually agreed he'd lied, Anyway they asked me to accept that I understood why I had broken the rules and I declined as I thought any rule that protected someone blatantly lying wasn't a rule that I could accept ,so that was that. Sad in some ways but it had changed a lot over the years and the fun was being eroded by countless rules in the ccc and as much by some peoples interpretations. I was actually told by one mod that a joke I made about German women having to shave their legs was offensive, I mean come on when things get to that stage you have to question if you actually want to be a part of it any more, so in the end it was an easy decision to stay away

You can't take a look without joining.
