I think that second half performance saved Nuno's job by the way some of the comments were going in the first half!

Better 2nd half but couldnt have been much worse. We were miles off them and lucky it was only 1. How are we not looking for a rightback if we are playing a back 4. I never want to see doherty in a spurs back 4 again if im honest.

"Hate to admit it"? It sounds almost like you're on about an opposition player rather than a Spurs academy product! I'm over the moon, he had a brilliant game.
Ha, I know. I think I have been fairly critical of Winks and definitely think we should shift him on but he did well today.

Mmm, give it time and we might get there. But with less than nine days until the Premier League season starts, and so far no outfield signings at the club, it's going to be a slow start, no?

2nd half was actually fine.

Goals were both a bit lucky but we showed more determination and a bit more aggression. Still, changes are desperately needed in the squad. COYS

That's been inevitable for some time. You just can't fix problems as deep as we saw last season over summer, even in ideal circumstances which we certainly haven't had. It's a real challenge now.

I suppose so. Just concerning to see us lacking much organisation this close to the start of the season.

Encouraging that we came back to draw after being 2-0 down. Wouldn't have expected that 6 months ago. Still lots of work to do around the pitch, but hopefully we'll be a fitter team than last season and not look so knackered by the 70th minute.

I’m really looking forward to this season now. I like the unpredictability of it and have zero expectations. We could finish anywhere. It’s much more like being the spurs fan that I have been conditioned to be - it’s like the 90s all over again.

Better second half, and that will have lifted spirits. It's only a pre season knockabout for charity, but there is the chance to get one on the board at the weekend by beating that lot and winning the competition (prob by two goals? Dunno, didn't read the rules).

On another note, fuck me Chelsea have got some brick shithouses. Second half I think only Pulisic was human sized. ETA and Chalobah.

3 with cup qualifiers don’t count suddenly?

Your point is fine, but I’m bored of the constant writing off of Gil’s first season by several posters because he’s going. You don’t play in the Spanish attack without being good, even if it’s not what it was, and we haven’t spent one of our top 5 or top 10 fees ever (depending on how much you think Lamela was values at) on him to not play regularly.

I have no doubt he will play I just don't see the point in believing he will suddenly solve our attacking problems. He will have good moments and bad just like any young player. We need more.

Our Spurs TV commentator has just come into the studio looking like he played the 90.

It's a fantastic result for confidence. Now go and beat the scum and weve had a great pre season

Pre season especially for spurs alwats seems abit of a mess, that continues inder nuno.
Looking at the squad though from what we have seen so far.....

2 cbs needed - Romero and one other.
Rb- Aurier wants out a doherty for me should not ve seen in a back 4. Id like to see aarons i rate him very highly.

A versitile WF that can chip in with goals and proven ability....not sure is available.

This is without kane leaving, if he does then the work needed gets much bigger although vlahovic, laporte and bernado would fill alot of voids leaving the rest of the money for the second Cb and a rb.

Edit, and as for bryan gil, i think hes going to become a big player, very fast. I really do think we have got a real diamond there.

Gotta love a match day thread on SC, world caving in first half, everything rosy in the 2nd
