I actually find it hard to blame any of the players. Sherwood has ruined our season. It's not even his fault though, criminally under experienced for this role.

I always see these calls for Townsend to play left wing. Don't think i've seen him have one good game there.

Lennon and him offering nothing. Siggurdson is doing what he does out wide in CM (very little)

On a plus side Chadli and Soldado have linked up well a couple of times, But Soldado's head is gone inside the box, that was why it was so great that when his confidence was high from winning us a game he wasn't played again

We've got to admit that Lennon is finished. The last 2 games I saw him play and half time today, he has not been able to get past his marker once. He has lost 2 steps rather than 1, and he's completely useless without pace.

You could make a pretty good combined team from Spurs and Benfica, their defence, forwards, midfield and Sandro.

Townsend has been pretty dire, but I can accept a player putting in a bad performance. His effort has been unacceptable though. Doesn't track back and his attempt to trip a player instead of running back after him showed his level of laziness and lack of desire.

It's strange because it has been shit and yet we're technically still in the race for 4th place. Obviously we're not going to finish 4th I hasten to add!

I have been writing about throw ins for like a year now, we are so bad at them in attack and defence.

I've banged on about it as well, but usually about our own throw-ins and lack of movement imagination (as also seen in this game).

That last throw benfica had in the top right corner had no one marking the throw taker making it 2v1 after the throw. It was the same 2v1 situation in that area of the pitch that started the move for the goal. Some players are just not doing the basics.

Either tim's not drilling them properly or they just don't care and can't be bothered.

1-0 in this game after 45mins is a good job though. Benfica also being gentle with us...which is nice of them.

We have so many bang average players. Okay. A lot of players are injured/suspended, but very few of that 11 would get near a top 4, title challenging side. We used to have those players, unfortunately we now have to settle for average, uninspiring players.

i'm trying not to go into the same points i always go into but seriously how does any club expect to get anywhere with players from the four corners of the globe uniting under the management of a revolving door alternating between mad fm experiments and classic knees up 4-4-2 who never get a quarter of the way into their projects under the guidance of a chairman who's making poorer and poorer choices between balance and breaking the bank whilst fans who are either too expectant or suicidal pay ludicrously overpriced season tickets for the pleasure of watching this circus
