One aspect of this that is quite good is Man City getting riled up by the approach. They’re used to bullying other teams with their financial muscle. It’s quite nice the show is on the other foot and things aren’t going all their way with how arsenal have approached Arteta.

Agreed. Whilst I’ve no love for Arsen*l City have pillaged the gunners since they became a doped club so good to see them suffer for once.

I'm not sure Arteta is the right choice for them right now. Totally guessing of course, but if his football is going to be Pepe like, he doesn't have the players to pull it off or the time on the training ground to get his ideas over (Jose was complaining about this just a few days ago). This could go spectacularly wrong.
It remains to be seen obviously, but if they are expecting "Pep Football" I think they're in for a rude awakening. Let's not forget, Pep had some top quality in the side he inherited (Aguero, Silva, De Bruyne etc) but still had to shell out a lot of money to get a team together that played the way he wanted them to. The goons have significantly less insitu quality and, if reports are to be believed, have already spent a chunk of next season's budget on the players they bought this Summer gone.

My.personal opinion is that they've dropped a major clanger here, but only time will tell on that. I don't think I've ever seen a bigger gamble on a manager though, considering their current precarious position.

I think its funny that they're shelling out 2m to get him out of his contract.

I also find it funny that's it's taking the best part of a week to get done. After spending three weeks actually getting a replacement sorted.

Basically the club don't know what they're doing, Arteta has even needed convincing himself by the sounds of it.

Difficult for Arteta to turn down such a high profile job, but you'd think it would be better for him in the long term if he took a Championship club and learnt the ropes with them.

He has, they're just not down there til next season

looks like they’ve been trying very hard with the failed Emery and Ljungberg experiments. Hopefully they’ll get (third time) lucky with the Arteta project.

Yeah I noticed the irony of City complaining about Arsenal raiding them for once too lol.

I imagine when he joined he was sold the idea that the club planned to get back in CL ASAP and that the PL was their goal. However after last season I'm sure he started to come under the realisation that the club seriously lacks ambition, stability and has a very poor squad.

Hopefully the likes of Lacazette and their better players feel the same rather than the likes of Mustafi.

We know that both Xhaka and Torreira wanted out, I just hope it's an exodus that really screws them over. I also hope Arteta can't do what Poch did when he first joined and get some to buy into his ideas.
