For a bit of fun, talkSPORT we’re debating would England fans accept let’s say a German Manager if it guaranteed we would win the World Cup.

I thought this thread could be a bit of fun for some made up would you rathers and random controversial scenarios…

For example here are two:
1. Would you rather we don’t win another trophy for another 10 years under Ange and other similar managers or would you prefer we won the league but in this made up scenario an Arsenal legend like Patrick Vieria was our manager leading us to glory?

2. Which rival players would you have taken at their peak if for some reason the player was keen and the clubs were open to doing a deal: Thierry Henry, John Terry etc amazing players and club legends for our main bitter rivals but in a parallel universe if we could’ve signed either or both of them in reasonably their peak whilst they’d already cemented a decent legacy at those rival clubs would you have taken them or turned them down?

For me I’d turn all 3 things down as principles mean more to me than just winning at all costs or ‘selling your soul’ but some others might feel differently 🤷‍♂️

What other random made up controversial scenarios or ‘would you rathers?’ can we throw out there for a bit of fun?

I wouldn’t care at all if England had a German manager so fine with that trade.
We already tried your arsenal scenario, and I wanted us to win the league under George Graham. The problem was he was miles past his sell by date and his teams were about as much fun as Jose’s to watch, being ex arsenal made it worse but we wouldn’t have cared if it worked
I’d have taken Henry, because he was an incredible player and seems like a decent guy. John Terry on the other hand is a loathsome prick who only has 80 caps because of Ledley’s lack of knee cartilage, so my preferred scenario here is for ledley to have proper knees then Terry wouldn’t have been needed and would have been far less famous anyway

I love Ange, but if Vieria won us the league I’d probably love him too. Arsenal fans would absolutely hate that too. Imagine how gutted we’d be if Hoddle rocked up at the Emirates and won them the legaue.

Similar to when Hoddle went to Chelsea mate made me feel sick but luckily he didn't get close to winning anything for them but was so strange seeing such a club legend Managing Chelsea.

I don't care who the manager is that wins us the league. Well as long as they're not a monumental ****.

I'd take option 1. Henry, never in a million years after he cheated the Irish out of the world cup. Always seems arrogant and condescending.

Would take Bergkamp. Can't remember Terry's CB partner, who I always thought was the better defender and made Terry look better than he actually was.

I liked Winterburn and Dixon as well, good fullbacks. And certainly Hazard or Zola, both wonderful players who unfortunately seemed to shine brightest against us.

Viera is a strange one, I’ve never minded him after he left the scum so would take a title with him if he was playing good football. If the title came from playing all out defence then to hell with it, I just don’t want to watch that anymore.

2- if it could be any other team then probably Scholes. I watched some of his highlights the other day, he was unreal.

I couldn't care a fig who the manager was if England was to win the world cup.

Steven Redgrave is our greatest ever Olympian in a distance event, with 5 gold medals.

His coach was German no one cares because he won

I’d take prime Drogba, Bergkamp or Henry in a heart beat. Regardless of the shirt a player puts on, if they’re world class they’re world class and every team needs that.
