reading a lot of slander about Sorloth here which probably comes from the fact that he was poor for Palace but he has had a great season in Turkey numbers wise and some of the stretches I got to see showed a lot of ability. perhaps not the flashiest name in the market but wouldn't classify it as a failure in case he was the one we got just yet.

Lots of talk about him being poor at Palace but he only actually played about 500 minutes of EPL football.

Not sure how much anyone has really seen of him considering the majority of those appearances wouldn't have even been televised and I highly doubt many Spurs fans are watching streams of Palace games.

My only memory of him was thinking he looked a good player but his finishing was woeful.

Guessing this side of his game has improved since he went to Turkey.

I don’t get these excuses for his lack of playing time at palace. It makes it sound like he was harshly treated -unfairly almost.
I don’t see how anyone can claim to know this is the case.

Instead, it’s highly (like 99% likely) that the reason he didn’t get much playing time is because he wasn’t cutting it in training.
At palace.

Then he went to a significantly lower level of football (lower than ligue 1; eredivisie and the Austrian league - to name but a few leagues dismissed all the time on SC) and banged in some goals.

And now that’s supposedly enough to leapfrog him up to the top of our list of striker options?
Do me a favour.

This is the most uninspiring link we’ve had.

The Times: Tottenham lost out on a deal for Alexander Sorloth who is expected to join RB Leipzig for about £25 million from Crystal Palace.

Been in contact with someone very close to him (can´t disclose - admins know): they all but confirm that Sørloth is bound for RB Leipzig and Germany. But nothing is set in stone before the ink of the signatures of all parties are dry, pinches of salt, etc.

Leipzig will probably double their money now (this is only me joking a bit - they seem to have a golden touch with all these transfers)

Thank the Lord !! Never wanted him the most underwhelming link to any striker we have had

Wonder if he’ll turn out to be their next gem that they’ll sell for a huge profit?

I think people on here writing him off based on cameo appearances as a 21 year old target man being forced to play as a winger by Roy Hodgson know a little bit more about spotting a player than RB Leipzig.

Obviously I'm in no way shape or form complaining about our business atm but I'm a bit gutted we missed out on this one, I thought of the strikers we've been linked to outside of Daka that this guy looked the best. Expect him to smash it at Leipzig.

Palace - did nothing, loaned out
Gent - did nothing, returned to Palace
Trabzonspor - scored a lot in a poor league

He’s had 1 decent season and that was in a poor league. We’ve been here before and it’s never worked out well.

At £25m... if he flops then you’re not going to get anywhere near your money back for him. This was too high a risk based on his past to purchase him.

Personally I think he'll come good but I do think what you're saying is pretty logical and makes sense. 25 Mill is a big risk.

And he’s 24... once he’s settled and is or isn’t performing he’s going to be 25/26 and if he can’t hack it at this level then which lower league sides in England and abroad can afford £25m? not many.
